not a believer in price control, but since we are hell-bent on artificially setting prices, despite how well intentioned from a health perspective this initiative might be, it would impact the poor man's diet as even with price control, fruit and vegetables are still super expensive and they are perishable, so the loss rate is high if not consumed fairly quickly. people who have limited funds and mouths to feed, can't afford to throw food away.
with most roads in town only 2 lanes, why cant this be done at night to minimize disruption? maybe its because of those rich contracts government tends to negotiate where workers get quadruple time for work after 5pm?
you have to wonder who these planners are that advise on new airport construction. this is the 3rd airport for Exuma while in Nassau we still operate from the same airport since Windsor Field opened.. ok they upgraded the buildings in Nassau but i mean an airport is a long term.project. how the hell can we keep building new airports every 20 years with most becoming nothing more than white elephants?
when you think about how we cant keep the power on consistently or keep traffic lights working, it frightens the hell out of me to wonder how we will respond if a leak or explosion occurs at this proposed place. seems we really need to decide if we really want to possibly put the GB tourism industry, water supply and environment at risk for what will be at the end of the day, if ever, an insignificant amount of jobs..
Butler is right. if a guy is doing 2 or 3 flights a day, every day, its hard for him to say he is flying friends.. but like everything in the Bahamas, we are good at talking but useless when it is time to act.
scary stuff indeed. all the folks with a level head being kicked out and replaced by fanatics and extremists.. recipe for disaster if the planets all line up.
If Doc has the authority to fire chipman, thats the end of it. no need to explain. i don't recall any explanation when the appointments were made, so no need to explain when u let them go. Look at America, which President in history has fired more people than Trump? wakeup Bahamas, this is the way it is. Get to grips with it.
there are certain jobs which by their nature cannot expect preferential pay just because their work days/hours differ from the most common Monday to Friday pattern. No society can function or progress if nurses, policemen, firemen, hotel workers, airline and airport staff, utility workers, etc. only work M-F and office hours. one needs to consider that before taking on those jobs. if that lifestyle is not for you, dont bother. but its irrational to say just because you work different hours or days of the week, you should get double or triple pay on the basis of that alone.
