i dont think Greenslade has political interests, but based on comments from Dames well before the election about the RBPF, i'm not surprised if Greenslade is shown the door.. the book does say there is a time and a season for everything i suppose...
being predominantly a socialist state since '73, i understand the fear factor Evans speaks off. The Union, as a last remnant of socialism, is loathe to gasp its last breathe. no need for fear, be confident in your ability and when one door closes, another will open. its socialists policies of successive bahamian governments that have us so many billion in debt now and struggling to recover... a far from certain outcome.
well law or not, i won't be surprised that non-compliant politicians face no action. hope the same law that lets them off will apply to the civil servants too. same ole story in this country, plenty laws and no enforcement.. and we wonder why the place has gone to hell...
Well i think if we are going to have additional security requirements to apply, then i advise all bahamians to get to the airport at least 1 day in advance of their flight.. i had the misfortune to travel on 10 July to America.. the Security line was almost outside the door.. why? out of 4 walkthrough metal detectors, 1 was in use.. out of 6 xray machines, 2 were in use.. you would think some Supervisor or manager would have observed this and brought more personnel and equipment into service; but no, everybody just wait 1 hour to be processed before more processing by CBP.. what a shame.
If they can't keep it on in Nassau, why would Abaco expect any different? Crap infrastructure will complete the destruction of the only source of income we have yet... Same old story, we can't keep the light on because we have thunderstorms, trees hit the power lines, cable faults, etc.. sound familiar? These things do happen and can have that effect sometime, but all the time?
No surprise here at all.. if there is one, its that all the corruption that we all know has existed for decades is finally coming to light.. what, if anything, will be done about it is another story. The late Paul Adderley said at one time that the Bahamas is a country of institutionalized dishonesty.. that was true when he said it, and seems just a true now.
Don't know what the big deal is... staff changes happen all the time, at all levels, in all businesses, all over the world.. so what? BTC will continue and the sun will rise tomorrow. we bahamians need to put this belief to sleep that because you have a job today, you 'own' it for life.. its just not like that in the 21st century.
This is all expected. Successive gov'ts have done nothing for decades to arrest the steady slide into poverty. wasteful spending, overstaffing in public service, propping up failed state corporations like Bahamasair, ZNS, Bank of the Bahamas, bailing out everyone when private companies and investments go bad e.g. Clico.. Implementation of VAT has done nothing to help the situation just provide more money to throw away.. i predict it will continue to get worse just like it did for our cousins further south who couldn't manage their money properly either..
