I think people are concerned Banker. But sometimes you just have to laugh at situations. We can't get so heated about every situation. Plus , we don't know yet what the local Vets have in mind. It may be just as effective as what the writer wants to do. So please, stop bashing Bahamians and constantly labeling us as lazy. True, we have our issues but not every discussion needs to harp on about how bad Bahamians are.

Tory you are hilarious. But I absolutely agree with ThisOurs. The letter is not very well written. It has a rather petty tone and there is not even the slightest attempt at diplomacy. Besides who knows what the local vets have in mind to help with this vexing problem. She steps in as if to suggest this volunteer group has all the answers. Why don't they go join the mission to kill them Toads that came in on someones yacht.

Another priceless intervention by Perry 'no balls' Christie. If I were Miller I would resign. We aint serious in this country. As soon as unions raise a fuss the government backs down. There needs to be some serious reform in how we run this country of ours. Screw BEC and its union. A horribly run company with horrible customer service. This is what happens when we have weak leaders who only care about votes. No real change, just a bunch of muppets in Parliament.

I agree with most of the comments here. BEC has given poor service for years and the we the public have had to bear it without much recourse. It seems like no one wants to work in this country, but everyone wants benefits. As I said in response to the article a few weeks ago about the Police Union aka Police Staff Association we need to be careful how unions effect our economy. We have many uneducated rowdy union folk who do not understand collective bargaining and resolution. Every situation it appears must escalate into a public feud with strike action being threatened.

This Mr. Greene, is the worst union man I've seen in a while. He doesn't have much control of his mouth or his brain it seems. His verbal diarrhea is going to cost the union much headaches in negotiation. He has also now set the public against his cause and that is a no no my friend. If anything he should attempt to make a case with the public at your back. That would've been hard to do anyway with most Bahamians quite annoyed at these recent revelations of double dipping. But at least show some humility, common sense and respect for the public.

Its so easy for Bran to sit on the sidelines and boo, but leadership is a tough job. I would agree that the PLP has made some really stupid decisions regarding the gaming bill and VAT. But this stupidity is not exclusive to the PLP. The FNM is equally responsible for this mess because like the PLP they allowed government policy to be dictated by these silly NGOs who's only objective these days is to secure the positions of the large industrial countries. They behave as bullies and when we don't behave as they wish they put us on a blacklist or they downgrade us.

When are we going to have leaders who stand up for Bahamians and stop this pandering to these international organization? If we behave as small fish that is what we will be seen as. One of the most damaging things that I've observed from older politicians and public figures is this sense that the Bahamas should know its place. It is a stupid mindset from stupid people. True, we are small in terms of our land mass and our population. It is also true that we rely heavily on Tourism and Banking two industries with heavy foreign influence. That being said, I have heard many Bahamians talk a lot of trash about who we are as a people and our so called lack of resource. If they cannot see that our people is the most valuable resource our country can have then they are blind. Our model of existence must evolve beyond these two industries which have made us lazy.

As a young Bahamian I detest the fact that we seem to accept this idea that we are some small insignificant country. Our politicians must stop with the bull#$*t and start leading and defending us. The many foreign banks and insurance companies in this country get away with serious fraud and harassment. They can't seem to regulate and police these unethical banks yet they want to implement an entire tax scheme. No real expertise in the field, no way to enforce violators and no long-term planning for revenue generation and collection. Its difficult to pay a parking ticket online because the bahamas.gov website always has some issue.

This is really a sad state of affairs. I simply cannot understand why the BAAA is in so much turmoil. Every organization has periods where there are issues that need to be worked out. But what is going on here is simply counterproductive to what we are trying to achieve in athletic development. From the outside it is difficult to say what the issues are but from what we the public can observe it appears to be much more than organizational/management problems. The problems appear more personal in nature. I cannot for the life of me understand why these adults cannot behave in a way that is productive and decent toward each other. If everyone is working toward the same goals, why is there always such discord between the executives, the council and general members? We should be much farther ahead as an organization in what we do and in how we behave.

Everything that is going on right now is absolutely obstructive and not helpful to the organization. The time and energy expended going to the Supreme Court by the three executives, the constant bickering between executives and the council is simply not very well spent. If there would be more focus on athlete development and health programs, financial managment and sustainability of the BAAA we would really see the talent shine from this country. Please would someone step up who is above the fray and lead this organization where it needs to be? The folks who are there obviously cannot get along and there personal issues are slowing down the progress that many supporters of the BAAA want to see.

Not knowing the details of the situation it is hard to take a position. But I would say that I think our economy is too small and too fragile to be held hostage by unions. I believe unions have a role to play but often times in this country we choose rowdy people with no sense to lead unions. They have no skill in negotiation and their only avenue is to encourage their members to strike. It breaks the back of local business in this country. I don't know Mr. Butler and I cannot vouch for his goodwill as an employer. But I think Bahamians are getting tired of the biggoty, loud-mouth union leader. We need unions that can take strategic positions and use every means of diplomacy to work through issues. The mark of a good union leader has to do with his negotiation skills and not so much his/her ability to call strikes.

I am amazed at the Police Staff Association and its leader's attitude. He says they are not a union but they are surely behaving like one. Of course the police have rights as well but the manner in which this organization conducts itself is outrageous and unheard of. Here again we have an organization lead by people with little experience in negotiation and far worse minimal education. Its frightening to tell the truth. We really have a lot of work to do in this country.

I really can't stand these people. Baby Tiger is the complete opposite to Midas. Everything he touches turns to dust. I am really annoyed by this, because its not the first time it has happened . When they owned and operated Solomon's Mines they literally ran that into the ground. Employees couldn't cash their checks because the company accounts were overdrawn. Before this they were milking the brewery to maintain their plush lifestyle. Meanwhile the workers suffer and are treated with gross disrespect. Minister of Labour please address the concerns of these employees and many others who are being totally screwed over in this country. The Finlayson's are infamous for their poor employee relations. I think Tiger really did well for a man with little education and from humble beginnings. But, his children have really made a mess of things and show no remorse or care for people.

Hahaha, you and I have had this conversation before. If you look at most comments that I make on here I am highly critical of both parties. I decided to abstain from voting in the last 3 elections because I was not satisfied with the choices. But Concerned you and Tal love to come on here and ramble on about your respective parties. I am simply pointing out that the Tribune is suppose to be an objective source. Or it claims to be anyway. If I had a bias I would be within my right as I have never claimed objectivity and I am not running a news agency. So analyse all you wish, since it appears that's what you are so keen on doing on this site.
