A wonderful way for the government to waste time, energy and public funds and in addition an attractive way for the political class to avoid addressing any of the country's myriad chronic problems.
Whenever the opposition has no resort to facts, you will find personal insults and allegations qualified with "probably" associated with their nincompoop comments.
Just ask the Certified Fraud Examiner who has never run a business; who has never managed an inventory and who looks at neat columns of numbers on pieces of paper all day. "Nevermind, nothing to see here." What an idiot.
What a joke. In Cuba, the Gulags are in tact. People like proudlaoudan..... take the relativist view of history. A democracy does something wrong... oh, then democracy and rule of law are no better than tyrannical slavery. Maybe proudloud et al would like to move to Cuba.
1. Don't compare the disastrous results of VAT regimes in similarly situated countries in the region. 2. Don't listen to opinions of Bahamian business leaders who have studied plan and who without exception are convinced it will bring a disastrous economic tsunami to the country. 3. Don't give even lip service consideration to the numerous alternatives that have been suggested that are far easier to collect and administer; this from a government that admits openly it is collecting far less than 50% of the taxes already on the books and taxes of a nature that are far easier to collect and administer than will be a VAT regime. (What is easier than collecting a tax on real property?)
I suggest dumping the Flamingo, and substituting the Ostrich as the new national bird.
