I call a truce. I respect you as a fellow commentator on here - and indeed your comments are often very excellent. We can just agree to disagree on this one. As a Bahamian i am used to getting the short end of the stick - so it really doesn't matter. I just chalk it up as one more slap in the face.

Best wishes to you and all my fellow "comrades" (as Tal would say) for a safe and prosperous new year.

"That does not mean the Government is simply blindly trying to arrive at that date without achieving the gains, benefits and manageable adjustments for the country,” Mr Laing told Tribune Business."

what benefits? None of these geniuses have yet listed even ONE benefit we will obtain with WTO membership. He says he's fighting to maintain the status quo. If you are fighting for that - then we are under attack. Ive said before, stop all planes from Europe from landing here. all. now.

Some would say i have no idea the financial loss and trouble and international spectacle that would cause. I reply that i do and guarantee is it less over a ten year period than would be had from WTO membership.

“With much consternation, we are learning that an EIA for the proposed Oban Industries has been completed, but will not at this time be made public for scrutiny,” Mr Darville noted in a statement.

That's the EIA you're talking about? The one we can't see? The one you are apparently happy not to see?

LOL. As i've said, once people get used to being treated like dogs their bark becomes more refined. You have developed an "international career" bark. I guess that's what they call pedigree in the dog world.

You have slave thinking - happy to beg the massa for what is rightfully yours - what is being done in YOUR name with YOUR money (via tax concessions that you have to pay to make up the difference.

The best slave is one who believes he is free. Shackles are just jewelery.

Sex education? The churches will never allow it. Remember man was created by God, but sex was created by the Devil.

Need to stop putting these childrens' heads in the clouds (literally). Why make them dream big dreams and think they can be successful contributing members of society - when we know full well that they are destined to be grovelling dogs, begging a Chinaman for a slice of bread?

Can we please stop making drug related arrests in Grand Bahama???

The economy there is terrible. People need drugs to cope daily to avoid suicide.

After the government gets the Port Lucaya hotel open and doing well and after the East End cruise ship terminal is operational and after the airlines that left resume operation and after somebody takes a pressure washer and does a crazy cleaning on all the moldy buildings all over downtown and after people can get their mail at the post office THEN maybe think about blaming the people for turning to drugs.

Until then, the govt is causing drug use then prosecuting the people who do it. That's entrapment. Very unfair. God will judge all.

Yeah, I need to be careful (LOL) - meanwhile our children our suffering. Pay attention to the real problem. The real problem is the D average is FAKE - it is caused by the system. You say
a b c d e f g - again the D is in the middle - so it is the average. Get rid of the G, and everything will be fine.

Will they get rid of it? No. Of course not. Because they love for Bahamians to suffer. It is their daily prayer and wish.

Thanks. I'm not so much of a US/Can suckup, as I am a "make the Bahamas better cheerleader". However, too many of us are happy and content with potholes in this country and think that so many things here that SUCK are just normal. We live a kind of "ignorance is bliss" lifestyle - and maybe in reality that is the best way to be. Maybe it is better that our population does remain ignorant - if by doing so they can be happy. Happiness is happiness - no matter its source.
However, I just doubt that the vast majority are happy. Malnutrition is widespread, leading to strokes, heart attacks, kidney failure, and cancer. Drug dealing, killings, stabbings, officers having to wear tall rubber boots at the prison, I could go on and on.

I've always joked how wonderful it would be if every time a Bahamian checks into a hotel room in the USA, management turns off the power breaker to their room so they have no lights or AC - you know, to make them feel at home.
