The law does not have to make common sense. The Privy Council can only base decisions on how they comply with the Constitution - not whether or not our Constitution is valid or makes sense, logical, moral, whatever.
Carl Bethel should say a decision to grant citizenship will be made on Nov 30th but at that time if the decision is yes to grant it to Jean then the government will also grant citizenship to 50,000 other Haitians who are now in Haiti on a lottery basis and that the Bahamian office in Haiti is currently accepting applicants for the lottery pull up to a maximum of 100,000 applicants so that each person has a 50/50 chance of winning.
The Defense Force will provide transportation to the winners.
Let's don't beat around the bush. If we want Haitians lets get Haitians. There are 12 million to choose from. Repeat the same lottery annually.
"Mr Turnquest, though, said The Bahamas was frequently "short changed" by assessments from the World Bank and other international agencies, which often failed to account for improvements and reforms enacted by this nation."
LOL. Yeah sure. The Bahamas doesn't actually SUCK - it's just that others "fail to account" for our wonderfulness.
That's the silliest one so far this year. These fellows need to move to Hollywood and do stand-up.

Yeah. LOL. The Bahamas doesn't suck, it's just that others fail to account for our wonderfulness. I don't know what the word is to describe that psychosis, but i'm sure it's hard to pronounce.
No sympathy for nurses on here? Our fellow Bahamian workers? No wonder foreigners taking over. We fight each other and bring each other down, so they dont have to.
By the way, where that VAT money gone? Still missing.
"...19 of these cases had resulted in convictions, thereby meeting the FATF's demand that The Bahamas prove it is "investigating and prosecuting all types of money laundering".
Nonsense. There has not been one single story in this newspaper about anyone going to jail for money laundering. We have to supply banks with blood samples from our great grandmother to open an account, meanwhile money launderers continue untouched.....if there even are any money launderers.
I was asked last month by my bank to bring in my new passport for them to photocopy because the one on file is my old passport. Really? So im not me anymore? The same man you see in here every week for 12 years? KYC means "know your customer". Do you know me? Do you know me to be a terrorist? If so, call the police. I will stand right here in the bank and wait for them.
