Sheeprunner, the Church won't allow Bahamians to plan responsibly. They forbid using them little rubber tingum.

"The number of loans being repaid right now to the BMC is 2889, 1366 of which are in arrears.
The value of the loans in arrears is more than $34m.
Mr Turnquest said the BMC is currently owed $194,246,667."

amazing how he can spurt out these figures when it has to do with money owed to govt - but when WE keep asking over and over for the exact breakdown of the $8B in debt and a listing of payments made to who how much and dates on our foreign debt, we are told to just shut up and pay ya vat before we devalue ya currency. We is the government, large and in charge - you dont deserve to know this info and ya dumb D-average a$$ cant understand it anyway.

Just pay ya mortgage and get ready to ink ya fingah in 2022. Dont ask where the VAT money gone. Dont ask. Dont ask.

"Also, it is alleged that TCI has not paid its light bill for “some time now,” and as it stands, is currently utilising a generator for electricity."

Gotta love this VAGUE statement which does not say how long it has been unpaid nor does it specifically say the power has been turned off. I give an "A" for creative semantics.

Economist - what you're saying is like perceived law. Like when the web shops were open without licenses and anyone could say the chief of police allowed them to stay open, when we knew it really wasn't his decision.

Check the Constitution where it says Her Majesty is the Head of State. I will leave you to take up that discussion with the captain of the British Navy destroyer that enters Nassau harbour on her orders One ship could take out the entire island with missiles.
Power plants - gone
Water pumps on Skyline Drive - gone
Gas stations - gone
Food wholesalers - gone

Who could we call to help us? Nobody because we would not be invaded by a foreign power. Instead simply law enforcement by our Head of State. The USA's hands would be tied.

It's truly amazing how something written in black & white in the King's English can be ignored by so many Bahamians - esp the ones that read, like you.

Continue to live in your fantasy world that the Queen no longer has power here. Just last week we had a judge rule that a convicted murderer was not "the worst of the worst". Why can't we hang murderers? You know why, but prefer an imaginary land of cotton candy and unicorns jumping over rainbows - all in your head. A pretty picture though. I don't blame you.

no new plates should be issued until every single taxi driver is the same person who owns the plate on the taxi they are driving.

Don't make the problem worse. In addition, if police or road traffic find a driver behind the wheel who is not the plate owner that person should be fined $50 (but not more than once per month). At least get some taxes out of the problem.

No new plates !!!

I bet most of these people being put out of their homes take part in the Independence Day celebrations every July - meanwhile the Queen holds onto FREE land they should have been given in 1973 and calls it "Crown Land".

That's not the saddest part.

What's worse is after they are evicted and live out in the bush with infected rat bites, they will still be on Bay Street next year July, celebrating.

“The political party of which I was once a candidate believed in freedom of speech, and the right of individuals to express their views even if those views are opposing to the powers that be,” he wrote.

“However, today I find myself with no other option but to also tender my resignation from the Free National Movement with immediate effect."

Simultaneous with the resignation of Mr. Leonard Sands, I - the great and brilliant Mad Hatter - also tender my resignation from this and all forums.

Discussion is getting us nowhere. There are no resulting marches on Bay Street, no purchasing boycotts, no boycotts or protests of any kind. People are either not upset about losing their currency and their country or they simply do not care.

I am reminded of the label on the cream can; "From Contented Cows". That seems to be what most Bahamians are today - contented cows. If you are content with the way things are today, there is no need to shut down Bay Street. Don't worry, be happy. Thank God for life.
