Those who make the rules, can break the rules. That has been the case since the beginning of time.

That said, I agree with their desire to postpone the vote. There are quite a few pots on the fire right now and none have yet come to a boil. However, I think by mid next year (they should at least set a tentative date now) - people will have a much better idea of how the economy in Freeport is doing, how we are doing on paying down international debt, how the power company is coming along - esp. the new LNG stuff, infrastructure improvements, hospital AC working well, VAT settled in and to what final affect, where the VAT money gone beside being lumped in with all the other unknown money, and of course the Haitian situation.

If on top of all that, they could finally incorporate into their Constitution all the changes made by prior Conventions so that members can actually read the Party's Constitution in full, that would be truly awesome and I believe the good doctor would emerge victorious.

Greentea - Government don't need money, dey got VAT. They can raise it anytime. 7.5, 12. I hear the next jump gah be 15. Then they can always go to 20. Who can stop them?

They can do whatever they feel. All we can do is get a inked-up finger every five years. You think that's their way of "giving us the finger"???

Too late. I heard the transport jet has already left Toronto.

LOL. Very funny. China wants long line fishing and they will get it. They want to own our most pristine Cable Beach and they got it. They want to employ foreigners in any ratio they wish at The Point - they got it. They want to sell alcohol and tobacco at their "Chinese food take-out" restaurants? They got it. They want to own the Hilton in the very center of our downtown? They got it. They want to own just about everything at Freeport Harbour? They got it. They want to refuse to use insurance money they received for that purpose to fix up the hotel in Lucaya? They got it. They want to sell the broke down hotel to government for a crazy price? They got it.

Long line fishing - soon - they will get it.

Take the Queen off and put Xi Jinping on our hundred dollar bill? Soon - they will get it.

Bogart - because money is involved and decisions affect the flow of money. That's why we need one hundred MPs instead of 39. I suggest that with a similar philosophy to what the Speaker said last week - simply - too many chiefs and no indians.

The Chinese or the IDB, in the next few days, will offer up a loan to fix it and these dingbats will JUMP at the opportunity to tighten the noose of debt around our children's necks.

A sudden concern for the welfare of Bahamians, or a realization that all the work permits discovered in the shanty towns census are not going to be renewed?

Dr. Minnis is putting an end to the plans of those who wish to turn the Bahamas into the Northern Haitian Territories.

Bahamians voted for him in a landslide because they wanted a better Bahamas for Bahamians. He is delivering. He will be re-elected.

If Haiti is too full of people, maybe they can do a deal with Nygard to "extend" their land bigger. Better yet, they can kick out the Catholic church and start to have sane family planning.

Bottom line though, they can whatever the Hell they want to do - just don't do it here.

TheMadHatter says...

Realitycheck242 - you have a great point, however, Bahamians constantly need more little bowls of soup because they keep making more little bundles of joy (every nine months).

TheMadHatter says...

"...we don’t know how long it was going, and we the public are paying for the fuel surcharge."

LOL. So fuel surcharge is the amount of money lost during thefts? The theft itself dont count.

He held onto this info until town hall instead of giving it to the police at the time of incident?

Bahamians are their own worse enemies.

If China wants longline fishing here they will get it. Both FNM & PLP governments always bend over to pick up the soap.
