Voltaire, here is a preview for you of the Bahamas in 2037. Fresh from CNN last night:

Voltaire, hatred? Ok, let's talk sympathy then. Sympathy instead of hatred. Where will the sympathy be for the minority of only 254 (two hundred fifty four) Bahamians that will be left in the entire Bahamas in the year 2037? Will there be a Q.C. in shining armor picking up his/her phone to defend them?

The article says ... "It may be that some occupants were trespassers against the Crown who have acquired title by adverse possession."

This is very very cool. I like this a lot. Can this newspaper, or someone, print out the procedures for this? Like how long you have to occupy a property, etc.

The issue regarding Haitian lands is a dead issue, and clearly nothing can be done about it. The shanty towns will remain just as they are. The article shows how Mr. Smith put a stop to it with merely a phone call. So we need not even ever discuss that again.

The real issue now, is how can Bahamians also benefit from these procedures. Up until a few weeks ago, I had never heard about "adverse possession." This is not (to my knowledge) taught in our high schools here - but clearly is a required subject to graduate in Haiti.

Let's educate Bahamians how to do this also - so that we can finally get ahold of our land held by the Crown since 1973.

crown land for bahamians too - what a concept.

I believe Donald Trump simply overlooked us when he listed El Salvador and others in a disputed remark on Jan 11th, 2018.

If he issues an updated list, I'm sure we'll be on it - under the B's.

LOL. Good point. Can't argue with that. :-)

This reminds me back in the early 90s when a bunch of 'jacks' in Freeport kicked up a stink about Laker Airlines having a Bahamian flag on the rudder/tail of their LC-11 jet.

Laker ran an excellent service between FLL and FPO and had late night flights which assisted with keeping gamblers in the Princess Casino.

However, because they were foreign and especially because they were white, a fuss was made about them advertising and showing pride with regard to their relationship with the Bahamas.

They eventually left and since then the casino and indeed the entire International Bazaar have shut down. Both governments have been so proud that there is nothing "international" in Freeport anymore that they have refused to reopen the Princess Highway for fear such a culture may resurface.

The best thing for this English lady (white) to do is to go back to England or she might stop off in South Africa if she has family there and try to prevent the current cutlass slaughter that is going on there. South Africa is currently mulling a change in their Constitution (seriously...look it up) to allow them to seize land owned by white farmers. Australia has refused refugee status to their white brethren because they are super busy turning into Indonesia #2.

Wonder when that will happen here? I don't know, but Dr. Minnis did say a few months ago that he looks forward to seeing Caribbean grown produce on our grocery shelves.

A whole ton of negativity everywhere you look. I say send all the whites back to England and be done with it.

Sheeprunner...so true. I reached out to so many trying to convince govt not to remove VAT from breadbasket items, but obviously the orders came down from our true rulers in Port au Prince.

Now we will go bankrupt and starve - unless you is like plenty plaintain.

"Yet many observers will wonder why the Bahamas had to cause such angst among its target investor/homeowner market, and..."

Simple. Govt does not consult with US here...the gurus of tribune242 dot com. As a result they have no "two heads are better than one" strategy.

The deputy cabinet secretary should have all of here in a Whatsapp group and we together hash out any new proposed plans prior to their being implemented.

I can only guess that whoever is profiting from the loss of all banks in Long Island - by providing under the table money transfer services - must be PLP or related to PLP. Hence the urgency of Sept 15th.

Also no doubt that clowns from the EU are involved here stirring up a tempest in a teapot.
