I guess the whole circus came to town this week :-)

Lorettas, tigers, and Brans. Oh my !!

"And Mr McCartney suggested the VAT increase, at least not to the magnitude of 12 per cent, would have been unnecessary had the Government "jumped on the bandwagon" ... "

And none of this would have been necessary had Bran jumped off the bandwagon 18 months prior to election and thereby allowed the people to have a real 3rd choice on election day.

But he wouldn't and since election the DNA has not seen fit to have a new leader. Mr. Mortimer holds the title of "interim leader" LOL and he is move quiet like ninja :-)

LOL. Isn't this forum cool - esp. when you have notifications turned on? You can see when someone else posts by getting an email notice. :-)

Licks2 says "...get yanna stuff in one pile. . .stop the childish nonsense and act like we know how to behave in big people company!!"

Licks, i don't know how much more "big people" someone can get than to be a Member of Parliament representing over 8,000 people. Sounds pretty big to me. Yet, he must ask the Speaker for permission to speak? Raise his hand like he is in 3rd grade?

This, in effect, means all of his constituents are like 3rd graders and they have no representation except thru the graces of the House Speaker.

Licks - if this is what you call democracy? The govt is surely happy that you accept it.

"...adding: “The contents will then be reviewed and if there isn’t anything inflammatory or controversial in it, it will be approved."

He should not send in the letter. Tell the press he is "reviewing it to ensure it contains nothing inflammatory" and just say those same exact words every time the subject comes up...for yeah and evermore.

Will the new agreement allow for the collection and distribution quarterly of even one cent per barrel of oil into the individual NIB accounts of all Bahamians?

No. Of course it won't. We are only Bahamians. Our resources our free for anyone to come and take from us.

Phoenix really? They have communicated?

Can you tell us how much money WE spent on police vehicle maintenance in April of this year? How much money WE spent on fuel for ambulances in March of this year?

How many loan payments have been made to IMF & IDB so far this calendar year, on which accounts (ie. what was the original purpose of the loan) and the resulting balance on those loans?

Where is this information available?

TheMadHatter says...

"She blasted the government for failing to properly communicate the reasons for the 60 percent VAT rate hike and other revenue-raising measures to the Bahamian people, so that they can better understand why..."

This is very true. I have asked numerous times for this government to publish publicly, monthly reports of ACTUAL income and expenditure including loans and payments on loans along with a true current balance sheet.

They won't do this though because they know that we won't actually demand it - and that the vast majority of Bahamians will be out next month on the 10th like a bunch of stupid idiots celebrating "independence" while our country is run under an Act of the British Parliament and the Queen has our land underneath her "crown".

The more fools government sees drinking and dancing on the 10th, the more they know they can ignore us. Nobody should pay attention to fools.

This is not worthy of discussion.

No need to worry about getting an education, cause there are no jobs. And even with an education we know the average is decreed to be a D.

Why students waste their time in classrooms and bother with homework in this country, i have no idea.

If i were a teen today in school, how things are now, i wouldn't bother with anything.
Teacher say "You wrote your essay Hatter?" And i reply "Nope. I was too busy watching Youtube. I dont have time for useless nonsense. Give me an F. I will help government with their D average plan by holding down the lower half. Thank you Miss Smith. You have a nice day."

Mudda_sic that is possible although i would advise them to wait for evidence of such vindictive behaviour before taking further action.

It is a shame that we have all allowed our country to get down in this abyss and getting out will be painful, especially for the poor - but we have to stop the fall.

Besides, poor people think being poor is super cool anyway; that's why they bring others into this world to enjoy "poorness" along with them. So don't hurt yah head over them. Dominoes, Kalik, KFC and eeryting ireee.

There is nothing wrong here on the side of the MPs or the PM. There are systems in place to help the govt push its agenda. However, MPs are free to vote however they wish (with consequences in some cases).

If we were a dictatorship, as some suggest, these MPs and their families would have been shot dead.

They are all alive and well, and so is our democracy.
