I applaud the government for choosing the correct form of taxation to increase. VAT is the best tax because it covers everybody. I would have preferred 10%, but 12% is better than none.

Note several duties have decreased. Will help put an end to duty free clothing and shoes sold in the shanty towns. Will also save our dollar from being devalued.

Illegals will have to pay more for everything except breadbasket, meds etc. It's about time they pay something besides moneygram fees.

Poor people need to learn to stop being poor. Why are poor people allowed to get away with condemning innocent children to poverty? Why are poor people allowed to have 7 kids and force them to grow up in substandard housing eating corned beef?

Once any woman becomes pregnant with her third child and she cannot produce a bank letter showing fixed accounts exceeding $100,000 she should be arrested and imprisoned for 20 years The child should be born in the prison on-site clinic.

VAT must not be removed from breadbasket items unless you want to hire thousands more RBDF officers to patrol the southern seas.

What the Hell do those people pay in taxes now except VAT on rice and cooking oil? They don't pay no NIB. Why should they be allowed to live here tax free.

Is the 12% to raise money to build new homes for them when they are moved from the shanty towns? Of course it is.

Bahamians, you will build new free homes for them while you continue to pay rent and mortgage.

Damn that gardner is cheap eh? Muddo.

I have always said in political circles that if Mitchell ever became PM he would be the biggest dictator in the world since Stalin.

These insane comments back up that view.

What, i wonder, does he think the role of a Senator or MP is? If each Senator of the ruling Party is supposed to vote in favor of ruling Party bills then why have them in the first place?

We have always heard that the Senate is a "rubber stamp". With Fred's attitude i can see how.

Kudos to Henfield for, like Moncur, Martin, and Butler, standing up to fight for the Bahamian people. What more could a people ask for than to have politicians representing and fighting on their behalf? I'm not surprised that someone like Fred would find this to be a novel concept. Is the word "retirement" in his dictionary?

You let the Chinese take possession of the Jungle Club in Fox Hill, Fred. Time to find a paper bag.

TheMadHatter says...

Nonsense Tal. This is ONE bill.

Will the sissy scared unions in this country put their power behind Mr Henfield? Or are they waiting for PM Chang to be elected?

The Bahamas does not have a bankruptcy law. You can never ever get out of debt no matter what turns your life takes.

This affords the banks a zero risk environment but they charge full risk interest if 18.5% on consumer loans. In addition to late fees etc. All of these however are not to exceed 20%. However you never ever hear of any bank violating this rule being charged in the courts. LOL.

TheMadHatter says...

Why are they wasting time catching them? Min Campbell is only going to give them Bahamian passports anyway.

Please stop wasting our money on RBDF. The RBDF should be completely abolished. We don't need it anymore.

Hang out the welcome flag.

TheMadHatter says...

Increase VAT to 10% and earmark the addition 2.5% to fund NIB.

No point in increasing NIB because a very significant part of our society works under the table. I would identify them here, but i wouldn't want to be accused of racism :-)

TheMadHatter says...

Can someone please make Mr Moncur be our prime minister? I'm serious. He loves the Bahamian people and is a fighter and man of action and wisdom.

Lady Pindling can you do this today please? For us? For your children and grandchildren? For your country?

Or shall we just continue along our current path to Hell?

...and NOW just today, those insane statements have caused another Haitian sloop to land in Eleuthera with over 100 invading soldiers on board.

We keep telling the "Come. Take our country from us." And they respond in kind.
