"Mr Turnquest said the results did not make him “feel badly,” nor would they disrupt the government’s agenda..."

Why should they? Only democracies need to pay attention to the desires of the people.

"Some are saying they can bring a floating barge and we can start to export to the assets right away........"

lol lol lol

Yes, Graham has been saying this for years BUT nobody will listen. It's too simple, too inexpensive to implement, and too cost effective to pass any government "standard."

In addition, it would not be possible to drag it out until the end of 2021 and then dangle it like a carrot in front of the public donkeys for 2022 election. "Vote for us and get ya cheap power." LOL.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

TheMadHatter says...

"...should not, for the sake of making a profit,..."

What profit???????????

How many cents per barrel of oil are we getting in this "deal"? Does anyone remember? Does anyone care? The agreement says zero.

zero. That's what Bahamians and their fresh air are worth.

Why is there no public list that scrolls every night on thr Parliamentary Channel? The list should show the name of each person held, convicted of what or in remand, date entered, and expected date of release or expected date of hearing or trial or habeas corpus or whatever.

As it is now, the government seems to operate a secret gulag where persons are just swept off the streets and disappear. How many times have we heard stories of people held in remand for years and then being released under their Constitutional right, or a family going from station to station looking for loved ones only to be told they were transferred but the sheet doesn't say where they were transferred to.

Of course, the well known QC is not aware of these issues Bahamians face. Of course not.

TheMadHatter says...

Seamphony and bcitizen - correct....but as you can see from Dawes last reply, Bahamians have been trained to be happy slaves. They dont know any better. Dem maid job at Atlantis is look good eh? Well muddo. If only i could get one ah dem, then i could take out one loan to gets new furniture. Yeah. Dat sound dead good bey.

TheMadHatter says...

"...Brent Symonette conceded the government currently had no idea how many foreign workers are currently engaged..."

And why should they know? These Chinese are only taking up Bahamian jobs...and nobody cares about Bahamians.

It's the People's (Republic of China's) Time.

On Foreign numbers at Pointe? No idea

Maybe we can contract a Canadian engineering firm for like 20 million dollars to come in and investigate if the shacks are up to code. LOL.

Maybe we can cancel all old folks pension and medicine and all NIB payouts for unemployment or single mother food assistance and stop fixing potholes and cut all govt salaries by 20% and triple all NIB contributions and...

Use the money to build new homes for anyone of Haitian descent who wants one....so that they dont declare war on us and burn our houses and kill us with machetes. Then we can go to their newly built homes and mow their yards and clean and do laundry for them so that they can be elevated to the position of rightful owners of the Bahamas which we all know (by actions, not words) that they truly are.

TheMadHatter says...

Withdraw our 17 year old application...and yes...get rid of all those businesses you mentioned. Or have you been trained to be a happy slave?

Maybe that's why the govt statistically scales a D average, so our youth are trained to think caca is chocolate ice cream.

All that glitters isn't gold.

TheMadHatter says...

This is the stupidest bunch of nonsense i have heard in years. It is the very pinnacle of stupidity.

Here's why. One section of the article reads "...he said of the meeting. "Quite frankly, it's a short period in space and time to get these guys galvanised." "

Really? So already we are having to jump in a short space of time...moving to THEIR schedule. Starting off on the wrong foot.

Another segment reads "For example, the largest importing country of Bahamian lobster could decide to increase the import duties on Bahamian lobster, making it less competitive..."

Really? The article twice states that we are the only country in the western hemisphere that has not joined WTO. So why haven't the importing countries already imposed a tarriff on Bahamian lobster and purchased their "Bahamian" lobster from the Dominican Republic? What's the delay? Tell the European countries to hurry up and impose tarriffs on our lobster and stop being a bunch of big sissies!!!! What are they afraid of? Try impose those tarriffs by 5pm today if their testicles are big.

This whole WTO thing is a bunch of complete and utter nonsense. It is merely a way for the big countries to skirt our immigration and customs laws and put the shackles back around our necks.

If we had a REAL prime minister he would have already banned all persons from European countries (except GB which is doing BREXIT) from coming here or doing business here or having any financial transactions here.

But instead the Bahamian people -as usual- are going to end up getting screwed and under WTO we won't even get duty free Vaseline.

TheMadHatter says...

Perhaps some compromise. Increase their VAT to 10% and also ask KP if he has anybody smart enough at Finance to keep track of that 2.5% and require the sign-off from the Min of Health to spend any of it.

Doubtful though. Govt seems to only like one big "consolidated fund" which allows for no end of foolishness. That aspect of the Constitution needs amending quickly.
