I think a lot was missed in this story between [tried to enter a club ...] and [So officers showed up...]
WHY DID they show up? Every time someone is told they cannot enter a club in the United States - do police officers "show up"? I think not.
Most likely the man made a complete ass of himself to the point that the police had to be called.
But of course that was all left out of the story by the news media because they wouldn't want to be accused of being racists toward the young BLACK man.
People visit the island and go to the grocery store. Many have rental cars, some use taxis and such to purchase food and supplies for their boats. They need to get them from the taxi to their boat.
I won't make an allegations here, due to strict defamation laws, and will instead ask - does anyone know who's permission you need so that security will allow you to move your groceries and coolers from the taxi to your boat?
So does this mean that foreign nationals in the Bahamas will have to pay these taxes too? Will their cost of living go up? Or will Social Services step in and give them free food and shelter and tax our hips for the money to do so?
I will be that THEY will pay very very little taxes if any. I hear some of them complaining about the price of food. Oh, if only the price of food could double overnight. That would be a good thing, and an excellent wake up call to all and sundry.
Stand on the line for your daily bowl of soup. Then there will be more attention paid to "how we got here", and who's getting all the free stuff from Government.
Every dollar put in the "plate" at any church in the Bahamas, ends up costing this country $10 in future needed social services, psychiatric help at Sandilands, pre-natal and post-natal care for infants and unwanted children, rent assistance and food assistance from Social Services, and lack of employable citizens to be overrun by foreign work-permit holders who did well in their foreign schools while our children get D-Averages in overcrowded pig-styes.
But, go ahead, pay me no attention. Keep giving the pastors money.
Mitchell needs to get that new legistlation on the House floor - tabled - so that it is illegal to hire non-Bahamians without a valid timely work permit.
As it stands now, this is not against ANY law.
Get the Law - Fine the Hell out of employers, and the word will spread quick.
When there is no money to be stolen from Bahamian workers - the boatloads will stop coming.
As long as we allow them to come here and work without permits and without consequences to them AND their employers - nothing will change - well, except our FLAG will change when they take it down at Government House, kick Lady Pindling out on the street, and hoist their own flag in its place.
And that won't be long from now. I estimate without change, that will be before end of 2016. Few will believe that prediction. I don't care. You can believe it when you see it.
Well maybe they should put their land to use, or sell it at a good price to Bahamians who can then build homes on it and make proper use of it - before the Haitians squat on it and tief it from them anyhow.
I know of a certain family who owns hundreds and hundreds of acres in Andros - just keeping them there vacant and stopping that island from developing just so that it cannot rival Nassau in any way.
Well if that is their pleasure (to keep the Bahamas backward) then they should pay for it - just like an expensive movie ticket.
It is not the issue - but Birdie makes a good point. It may not be relevant this moment, but it might be when this same young man forever unable to get a job because he has a police record "about nothing important" can't make any money to survive and breaks into YOUR house to steal whatever he can to sell for food.
Absolutely correct. We are destroying our own people. If he had been a Haitian rest assured he would have been set free - and as for whether he had a lawyer, rest assured Fred Smith would have flown down on a Leer jet. Nobody would have wanted to suffer the wrath of the United Nations.
As for people being born here and claiming citizenship, we need to become more proud of our own culture like the people up in a north-east state in the U.S.
"They are proud of their heritage up there in Vermont. They have a saying about transplants who claim to be Vermonters. “Just because a cat has her kittens in the oven don’t make them biscuits.”
I agree. There are many Haitians in the Bahamas that make a valuable contribution to society. Many who have lived here for even 30 years or more, who are a true part of our country and would be sorely missed if they were forced to leave. This whole campaign is not at all anti-Haitian. I myself am not anti-Haitian (although some may think so from reading many of my comments on this site). The country is just sick of parasites who come here and breed and do nothing constructive even for their own benefit. Those who come here who want to contribute, and uplift themselves at the same time, are very welcome in my book. But don't come here and breed like rabbits and then cry poor-mouth and expect us to pay your bills. If you want to stay down and out, you can do that just as well back home. Also don't come here with the intention of forming a majority.
