Well maybe now they know what it was like when they kicked and screamed at the Big Red Boat parking off the shore of Port Lucaya back in the mid-1990's. They made all kind of noise until that whole operation was cancelled and Port Lucaya basically became a ghost-town. Lots of Port Lucaya merchants lost their stores, and plenty employees there lost their jobs.

Because of all of them losing their jobs, other businesses suffered (because fewer people had money to spend), and the whole economy suffered as a result. In the end, the taxi drivers did not get any money from the Big Red Boat anyway.

Their attitude was - if we can't have it, then nobody can have it - we will all starve and we don't care if Freeport sinks.

That attitude has brought them their just desserts.

So is it the "BISX and Securities Commission requirements" that prevent ordinary Bahamians from owning shares in these things? Is the Law designed to only allow rich people to get richer?

How could I, for example, invest $500 in Cable Bahamas shares? I would bet that even if there was a way (and there probably isn't) - I would have to pay the agent so much of that in fees, that it would take 15 years for me to even break even with interest earnings. However, if I had $100,000 to invest - well - then I'm sure I would make a good profit in three short years.

Everyone will just vote NO - like the one they had back in 2002 when nobody knew enough about it.

There has been no education campaign - so go ahead and have it and we will vote NO once again.

Of course, we know what good it will do if we vote no - because in referendums NO means YES to this Govt.

Don't Haitians get enough free health care in this country already? Can we really afford to give them even MORE ?

Why don't we all move out into the streets in cardboard boxes and give them our homes too while we're at it? Our cars? Should we give them those too? Would that be enough?

Yeah, sure - keep crying wolf. What a pile of foolishness. Nobody ain't gonna check for that. They know that the deadline will be moved to March 2016, and then August 2016, and then January 2017 - and by then the PM will be a Haitian and it will all be cancelled. So they ain't checkin.

Amazing that security cameras simply don't seem to work at that site. Something strange with the Earth's magnetic field in that area, perhaps?
