London will not allow us to have the death penalty because they do not have it there.
It is the same reason that the Privy Council refuses to even hear the case, now pending before them, about the numbers that are written on our voting ballots that allow our votes to be determined.
We cannot have secret ballots because if they ruled in favor then they would be saying that the way Enland is doing it is wrong too - and they do not want to admit a mistake.
Why don't all of you church people get together on Sunday afternoons and have a LARGE motorcade that goes along Bay from the Hilton to Village Road and the up Bernard Road to Prince Charles and across to Fox Hill to the prison? Do this once per month to bring attention to the issue.
You probably would not get enough people to participate. Everybody just wants to believe they they will NOT be one of the 147 people to be murdered this year 2015. (147 - that's my prediction - LOL).
Families also need to take some responsibility, reverend.
Everywhere you turn, babies are popping out like somebody forgot to unplug the popcorn machine.
Just TODAY, I saw a lady that had 3 (THREE) children with her all under the age of five. How can anybody have three children in less than 5 years' time?
You can't just keep making babies and then cry saying "Oh Lord how am I going to feed my poor children? How am I going to buy clothes, prices dem going up."
Prices have been going up long before vat came along. Things have been getting tougher and tougher around the world for many years - this is not news.
These women need to start rejecting Valentine's Day flowers, and start stocking up on fresh batteries instead.
Hopefully Virgin will get it and not Cable Bah (which controls too much now). Cable Bah should try to ensure that they can have proper access with the new company (ie. 699 numbers can dial the new mobile numbers and reverse).
This is probably all a waste of time even talking about, however, since I am sure Mr. D'Aguilar is correct - that it will take another two years for the winner of the bid to be decided - just in time for the next election.
Bahamians need to just accept the fact that nothing happens except in the 6 months leading up to election.
Our Constitution needs to be changed so that we have elections every 18 months. That is the only way that things will be able to move forward in this country in any way keeping pace with what is happening globally. The sitting Govt should be able to show the people what they have done and are doing in the past 17 months and the people can give them another 18 months to complete a lot of it. If after that "next chance" 18 months (a total of 3 years) they have only completed like 20% of what they said they would do - then - out they go.
This will teach them to "Say what they mean, and mean what they say" and not just speak that phrase because it sounds good to say it. Have reasonable attainable goals and get them done. Don't talk about pie in the sky.
As we are now, we just continue to drift backward in the tide.
P.S. Above is the LAST comment I will ever make about the illegal immigrant situation. The battle is over. The war has been lost. I accept the fact, and will try to move on. There is no point discussing this any further ever again, no matter what happens or seems like it might be happening. It is all a big lie. I accept defeat like a man, and go on to the next project.
Well, that lasted all of two weeks - LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a joke.
**Min. Mitchell should have the self respect to resign**, and in his speach simply say "I tried to save the country from illegals, but other players in the Govt and international treaties and regulations simply make that goal impossible. **The Bahamas is now dead.** Any Bahamians who remain here are simply attending its funeral. I have plenty of personal money, and plan to move to Canada where I can obtain residency based on business investment status. I wish the best of luck to my fellow Bahamians - but it is now simply clear that there is no solution and I encourage all Bahamians to apply to Port-au-Prince for a Haitian passport so that they do not face discrimination and loss of their jobs in the new regime which is now in power here. I tried, but I failed and I am a big enough man to admit I was wrong, and move on. God help you all."
Thank God somebody is ignoring the church. Don't you think some of those cement blocks being put up every week could be better used to expand our schools? Do we really need more friggin churches in this country? At any time you can drive around Nassau and find no less than 4 churches either being built new or being expanded. That is simply disgusting and stupid.
Our children need an education and to learn how to LIVE in today's world. Jesus came here as a flesh and blood man to teach us how to LIVE, not how to die. He taught forgiveness, acceptance, and other things that were voted not to be included in the 66 books of the Bible - such as his interaction with Mary Magdelene and their children.
People need to start thinking about how we can live better lives, and what our government is doing etc - and stop worrying so much about where you're going when you die. That is indeed a valid concern and should be paid attention too, but in this country we pay way too much attention to it, and you can see the result in our quality of life going down every year. Teenage pregnancies, drug abuse, unemployment, child abuse, poor infrastructure, poor education, etc.
But if you want more of that, then keep putting your money in the plate. It hasn't worked so far. But who knows. Next week might be our lucky week.
Sound like Minnis also has his master’s degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Human Dictatorship.
He did not have to say "I've said all ..." - instead he could have said something like "This was discussed and approved by our central committee, or by whatever group within the Party makes such decisions." Of course, if there is no such group and he made it "all by himself" - then my first sentence above has some merit.
Yes, I agree - just like the President of the United Federation of Planets said at the end of the movie Star Trek VI - "Let us redefine progress to mean that just because we CAN do a thing, it does not necessarily follow that we MUST do that thing."
Wages should work with the economics law of supply and demand. If you have 100 people looking for one job - the boss can afford to pay $4 per hour. You don't want it? No problem, I got 99 other people here wanting it.
People need to consider this when they bring children into this overpopulated world. Where are YOUR children going to find a good job? How are they going to compete with the Chinese who get paid 2 bowls of rice per day (no money), and are grateful that they don't go hungry?
These are the people our Govt is letting come in here to compete with us. Are you willing to work for only 1 and a half bowls or rice? Then you will get the job instead of the Chinaman.
