No Mudda. Not if we become a state. We would have our own Governor and our own state legislature (house & senate) just like every state does. We would have to obey Federal Law just like every citizen. But we would have rights and opportunities just like every citizen.
Cuba is not a part of the USA so the US can treat them any kinda way and they can do us the same. Imagine if Trump placed a 20% export tax on goods heading to the Bahamas? Including stuff in your luggage?
Puerto Rico is being treated like a dog because they dont want to become a part of America. They had two referendums in the last 50 years and both times voted no. So let them deal with their own hip.

Your point is very valid. Yes, the Haitian and many other peoples want to go to America for "a better life."
Why is it though that ALL countries don't give their citizens "a better life"?
Why is it that when you suggest to anyone in those countries that wouldn't it be nice if USA came and took over their government and just ran the country the way it would be if it was a state, that you suddenly hear all kinds of nonsense about "independence?"
Why is it that when Trump labeled all these countries that people are desperately running away from as "S-Hole Countries", everyone got upset with him? Shouldn't they instead be upset with the governments of those countries?
Why is it that all of the cry-baby organizations that try to protect immigrants from "poor" countries who immigrate to "rich" countries - these organization NEVER seem concerned about the living conditions in those "poor" countries. Never even talk about it.

Of course - that' why they refuse to finger-print or retina scan them into a database - because then it would be revealed that it's the same people coming back and forth (on our dime), and transporting tings.
