"...The environmental activist reported that a large area, about 35 to 50 acres of pine trees were uprooted, and that close to 700 acres of pine trees still have oil on them.

#Despite this, Mr Darville said the trees are showing signs of recovery..."

what kind of stupidity is this? We are in the business of worrying about trees instead of the water that our children are going to drink at school? Government schools are still closed supposedly because there is salt in the drinking water. What else is in the drinking water? OIL?

So we have 700 ACRES of pine trees with oil on them still. seven hundred acres of pine trees with oil on them. hello? Is there anyone with a brain anywhere near that facility? Who ordered the trees not to be removed? Was it impossible for this reporter to uncover the name of the government official and obtain their credentials in oil spill recovery processes?

Why didn't the order come from Polaris? Would it be because they are only here getting a cheque and have no authority whatsoever over what happens with this oil spill?

Also why is it that Equinor doesn't know how much oil was in that tank? Is that how they run their operation on a daily basis? Ships pull up and get some oil from them and the Captain pumps 400,000 gallons into his ship and tells them he got 350,000 gallons and they say "OK Captain Sir, no problem. You can pay us for 350,000 gallons because we don't know how much was in the tank before you arrived here, so we will just take your word for it - just like the Bahamian people have to take our word for whatever the heck we tell them about anything."

Somewhere at a headquarters somewhere in the world, some big oil company is making plans to get a facility here so that they can have a free-for-all out of control circus that they can't have anywhere else in the world. They gonna "clean up" with that deal. (ooops, I shouldn't have said "clean up". They will do everything except clean up, I meant financially LOL).

Wonder if anyone realizes that this website can be read by anyone anywhere in the world? Nobody is worried that we look like complete and utter buffoons worldwide? Amazing.

In fact, I've been hearing so many GOOD and positive things and "bouncing back" and "better than before" everywhere I turn, that I've concluded that Dorian may be the best thing that every happened to the Bahamas.

I myself, always dreaded the thought of a major disastrous hurricane ever since Floyd. But now, i'm going to be looking forward to them.

Trump has the opportunity to be a modern day Martin Luther King, by freeing the slaves in the Bahamas - saying to our tiny population "Abandon ship, and come dwell forever in the Land of the Free, helping to Keep America Great".

Imagine what great creativity and success the Potter's Cay stall vendors could have in south Miami? That's just one example. Dade County police would allow customers to drive up to the stalls. Just one example. Just one.

I actually am not worried about the environmental issues of drilling. If we had a government that brought in independent international teams to check safety issues and deal with cleanups if needed - there would be no problem. But the current (apparent) policy of allowing the company who experiences a spill to go ahead and clean it up in whatever way they just feel like doing it - with no oversight (except the people they bring in and pay for "oversight") - is just silly.

In addition, how much does the Agreement for this new oil exploration company say the Bahamas Treasury will get from each barrel obtained? $1/barrel? That would be nice if over a billion barrels as they say - that's a billion dollars in taxes (about the same amount as VAT). Well, in that case maybe it is good that we are getting nothing per barrel - because we've already seen where the over 4 billion dollars from VAT has gone (gone into hiding). No disclosure of "where the vat money gone". So if we did get one dollar per barrel - then 2 years from now we will just be on here asking "where the oil money gone?"

WE as Bahamians - just can't win. Dog tried to eat our lunch (then even he realized there ain't no lunch to eat).

This is standard Fox Hill Prison kind of stuff. This is not news. Every building in the Bahamas should be like this until we make the prison fit for humans.

So now we know WHY East End has suffered DAILY for over 40 years under every single government of the Bahamas. We needed a new Ministry to fix it.

Hot diggity damn, at least the secret has finally slipped out.

Government needs to take the airport NOW under imminent domain and then give 75% back to Port Authority and keep 25% with the caveat that Port agrees to allow NAD to run it.
We have got to get rid of EVERY entity from China that owns anything in the Bahamas. Only exception are Chinese descendants of Chinese Bahamians who themselves or their parents or grandparents or via share transfers have been here since Independence.

China is not going to stop until they bring us to our knees.

In other words, Haitians will rebuild and live in the shanty town while this matter plays out in the courts for the next 46 years. Amazing.
