Exactly. They are already rebuilding, so why should we pay tractors to help them? Do we want VAT to go to 20% before we realize our stupidity or do we need 45% ??

We have never had a sitting government tossed out and have zero seats in the new House. The PLP came close this time with 4. Almost zero.
But this governmemt going to make history in or before 2022 with no fnm candidate winning any seat. Even St. Anne's going to "throw the rascals out."
Zero. Zip. Nadda. None. Bye bye FNM.
Not one seat.

Why the Hell are WE paying a contractor to clean up the mud and peas areas? Every other area in Abaco has already been cleaned up and they have nothing better to do?

It is too bad that the Bahamas is the first country on the planet ever in history to have an oil spill. Those you may have heard about in the Gulf and in Alaska and in the mid-east are only vicious rumours designed by so-called historians to make the FNM look bad. Exxon Valdez? Who ever heard of it?

There being no technical know-how and experience in the entire world which knows how to measure the size of an oil spill, we are therefore left at the mercy of the idiots at Equinox and their 6 inch rulers which they have borrowed from their kids' geometry sets.

Hopefully Alaska and Louisiana and Venezuela and Trinidad and Saudia Arabia etc will all fly in their oil safety people and bring BLANK notebooks so that they can take notes and learn a thing or two as this mystery is tackled by coatsuit wearing oil executives.

On Size of oil spill still a mystery

Yes it is no surprise that Sen is pro-Haitian. This has shown thru in his writings over the years. However, Sen, what will we get in return for this favor? Will we at least get a full accounting of the hurricane money even though we dont know anything about the VAT money?

By the way, the "web shop.industry" is not an "industry". It produces nothing. But i suppose in a country that produces nothing filled with people who are used to getting nothing and being valued as nothing - a room full of shiny neon lights might pass as an industry. For some it might pass as Heaven on Earth.

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. We can only pray that someday we will have a king with two eyes.

TheMadHatter says...

Abaco is not worth this amount to restore. Besides, Haitians use their own generators - so power restoration is not even needed.

Come on man. VAT too high as it is to waste money on an island that is not even a part of the Bahamas.

This is such a silly article. 250 responders from unnamed international orgaizations. No refeence for past experience of the 2 that were named. 2 tanks that cannot be measured. Non-existent benzene that is evaporating? They have no evidence of any benzene but their measurements so far point to a favorable outcome? 2 birds being tended to - no mention of the 3rd bird and the lone goat. Is he dead? Are we importing a replacement goat from Long Island or are we importing one from abroad so that govt can collect VAT on his import value?
The helicopter with the journalists are unable to fly directly above the two topless oil containers to look inside? Are they half full or half empty?
Nobody on the planet Earth knows how to deal with this or are the ones that do still waiting on their work permits?
Im surw many are praying for rain to hide the evidence.

We didnt have $90M health infrastructure in the whole Bahamas, much less Habaco and GB. Besides, for Habaco all you need is one pair of scissors for five bucks that can cut umbilical cords, and ya good to go.

TheMadHatter says...

Agree with you, but beggars can't be choosers; and we are all beggars. If we had the use of our VAT money as a part of our budget we would not be. Great things could be done with those missing billions. Yes, billions. Yes, missing.
