Be sure your relatives compile 100 pages of documents and photo evidence before they ever complain of police brutality on your behalf. Call them ans tell them now so they will be prepared to be unprepared.
The *200# menu for sending minutes to someone is filled with so many dumb questions - especially the first question.
You have to choose 1 2 2 1 before it even asks you for the phone number. And what the heck is "send transfer request"???? Isnt the fact that i chose to tranfer minutes enough?
Not to mention these menus are always changing and there have been no new inventions to choose from......just different numbers to press.
Too many details here that don't matter, and will only be changed again if the requirements are met. Moving goal posts. The underlying fact here is ...
If you are white, you are not alright. Go back where you came from. The colours of the flag will guide you.
As for the article itself - where it says "...would ensure Bahamian exporters have market access and can enter overseas countries with their products and services." I must ask, what products and services????????
Mr. Leonard and others like him do a wonderful job of scaring us into believing that our economy will continue to go downhill (and it very well might) if we don't join the WTO - BUT they never seem to have any reasons to give on the positive side to say WHY we should join. To what benefit? (All stick and no carrot). They keep referring to exports. What exports? Yes, I know we export some crayfish to Europe - but that is a minute portion of our economy.
One can only imagine that he may mean the exports of all of the big corporate factories that will come in here and put us to work - like slaves - in their factories - and then they will be able to export their products to Germany etc. Yes. The export thing will be GREAT for those foreign companies - but very very very bad for Bahamian slave labour. If one wants to learn about slave labour in the modern era - just go on Youtube and search for "slave labor factory china".
If that is the future of the Bahamas - then I think we ought to continue to "kick the can down the road."
I can't speak about the agendas of the two gentlemen, because I don't know them at all - however, you have a point to mention Red China.
Red China has done an excellent job of encouraging (behind the scenes) so many countries around the world to join the WTO and then be held to a bunch of nebulous rules - which they themselves to not follow. Anytime anyone does anything that Red China doesn't like - they file a complaint with the WTO. If Red China does something another country doesn't like - well that's just too bad for that country. They have to live with it.
The second thing we MUST give credit to Red China for - is convincing ALL the countries of the world to stop referring to them as Red China - because that sounds bad - and simply call them China - or The People's Republic of China (which sounds very nice). One imagines that there may actually be a democracy over there in some shape or form and it brings wonderful images to the mind - which are quite unlike the torture chambers of Tibet.
Exactly correct birdie. The article says "...While debt servicing costs are forecast to increase by a modest $5.5m on the initial 2019-2020 projection to $377m, the impact of..."
In other words, out of the over $900M collected in VAT, we now see that only $377M (less than half) is spent servicing debt (and some of that is domestic debt). This is in opposition to the intent stated in 2014 which was to pay down foreign debt to prevent a devaluation of the dollar.
As long as we don't know what's happening to the VAT money (in detail) - then all of this other stuff here is a waste of time. Bahamians don't get to know where their tax dollars actually go - we only get to see "budgets" and "projections". I want to see a "projection", I will go to the movie theatre. They have a big projector there.
"...“It’s very important for us to know who our family is. I always thought, what if I meet someone and had a romantic interest in them and do not know whether this person is a sibling or cousin. My identity is tied do this,” she said...."
Everyone in the Bahamas is everyone else's cousin. The reality is, there ought to be a license required to have children. You need a license to open a lemonade stand - but not to create a life and mistreat it. The church is very concerned with the lives of the unborn ... until they are born.
