You will be pleased to know that I'm moving to Hungary at the end of the month - I've been invited to help fight the Muslim invasion that it taking place there (by writing opinion articles) - so I will be out of your hair for about 5 years. Heck - I may even stay longer. Somebody's got to stop those towel-heads.
laalee - very funny. Sure they are - LOL. You really think if the Bahamas Treasury was going to benefit from such a deal that the ruling Party would not mention this every time this issue comes up? Wouldn't it be beneficial to say but we will get $1 per barrel - which would be a lot? We getting nothing - as usual.
And we still have not been told how many pennies on the barrel will be deposited in the Treasury. My guess? ZERO. But in all likelihood - a lot of money will be deposited somewhere else (as always).
Birdie - the same way when your people were in - you don't get to know what happens to the money. You get to keep quiet and wait until next election. Your leader (Brave) is currently the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. Ask him to look into what's happening to our money. But he won't. That's why the Centreville guy resigned. The opposition Party has no reason to come in this newspaper or any newspaper and play dumb - like they don't know the figures. They are in charge of accounting for them.
Oh these poor poor Haitians, who know not what is a condom. Can't we just have our defense force vessels (all nine of them) each make daily trips to Haiti and return full? Have a passport officer at the dock to pic them and give them passports as they come off the ship?
Keep going back and forth bringing them until they are ALL here.
This might be best instead of the trickle of just 500 per week currently. It's a long long dramatic story. Just do it and get it over with. Hopefully all 12 million can be brought here before now and Christmas. There are LOTS of Bahamians who simply love Haitians - and they will be well pleased. With them and the spanking new passport holders, the govt will win re-election in a landslide. I predict 43 out of 39 seats for the FNM with this plan.
Why are we investing these large sums of money into Northern Haiti? Abaco and Eleuthera need to just be declared "lost". Remove all Bahamian interests in these 2 islands. Govt retake all land from everyone and make it Crown Land, which will then make them suitable for Haitian development. Make it illegal for any Bahamian to set foot on those 2 islands or for any regularly scheduled airline or ship to travel there. No mailboat either since that is subsidized by government. We need to stop fooling ourselves ... and stop investing money ... and simply divest ourselves of these two derelict worthless islands.
The Minister of Education could, with one stroke of a pen, get rid of the silly letter grades on the exams - which cause the letter "D" to hold the median position - thus causing our "average" grade to be a D. The old grading system of A, B, C, D, F existed for a reason - because "C" is in the middle of the AB and DF - thus the average grade becomes a C.
Get rid of the U, the E, the X, and whatever letters he enjoys in his imagination.
Then our students will feel better about themselves and their performance and try to reach higher and higher levels of performance. As it is now, we tell our average Bahamian student that he/she is very near to being a failure - always - this has a psychological effect. We are destroying our own future - or should I say, Minister Lloyd is playing an important role in this drama.
