New generators cannot solve the intrinsic incompetence and total dysfunction that is BEC, with BPL management.
I think Nassau aught to be preparing for the total failure that seems imminent.
How is the distribution system going to handle more supply and hence the higher demand that will result?
Shifting the pressure from Generation to transmission/distribution is just shifting the problem.

Simply eliminate duty and VAT on healthy items, government profits the most on most imports!
Years ago Solomons had large signs posted showing import cost break outs with all taxes.
Spelled it out very clearly who makes the money!

Being enrolled since its inception I have never been under any illusion that I would ever benefit from my contributions.
In fact, my first employer was landlord for an NIB sub office, who also made no contributions on my behalf during my tenure with them. They did however deduct from my pay weekly!
Over the years I have checked and found gaps in contributions on my behalf, luckily I was able to fill them in, and thus identify crooked employers.
No, it will collapse, which will hurt the poor no matter which club of crooks they worship.

Empty rhetoric.
Both PLP and FNM have consistently neglected and or done exactly the wrong things in Grand Bahama.
What you see today is the inevitable result of 50 years plus of the wrong "treatment"
Are you now suggesting euthanasia with your "injection"?
Leadership stagnation on all fronts, all the wrong people in all the right places.

Resignation needs no explanation. The add lib on flying everyone to Government house was in poor taste, particularly with the Partisan political component within the MOFA.
I understand the posting is reward for loyalty to the P.M. during the coup. Not loyalty to the country but to the leader.

Ahh so that's what the additional $1mill is needed for..........

Damn, and I thought the objective of BAMSI was to siphon $$ off to political players....
and Feed the Nation with whatever is left, using the public treasury model.
Whoops, there it is!

The_Oracle says...

Joined at the hip? Yeah, more like thick as thieves though.
Ruined economy, ruined National Ethics, $8B in debt, and Obie wants respect?
Davis courting them is no surprise. Not an original thought there.

The Government consults and relies on factions that do not want to see Alternate energy happen in any meaningful way. God forbid the private sector be allowed to just do it.
Unions, fuel special interests, BEC/BPL management, All overly complicating the process and objective both politically and technically. This ain't rocket science.
One look at Alternate energy in the U.S. is state by state forwards and backwards simultaneously but taking more steps forwards than backwards.
URCA is proving to be a disappointment, seeming not to know how to act as a regulator, AKA same as the Government is in every other area.
No teeth, no action.
