Me thinks a bit of fundamental education is in order, "selling" excess back to the power co might be nice, but most would be satisfied to zero their own bill. Especially if BPL/BEC is still holding onto their dying horse and URCA is behind the times. No, the grid in Nassau will catastrophically crash long before they get their cumulative arses in gear. Trying to control what existed 10 years ago is futile. Being caught unawares by what exists today is inevitable.
Looking up while still regressing is no answer, and yes, It can certainly get worse, and probably will. Our current inertia could carry us to 197th place! Great ideas abound, but if no rubber hits the road they are just pipe dreams. Didn't Cayman open it's tech Hub mere months after our first Summit? hmm. We Need some doers, dreamers get rough awakenings!
Yes, Doctors are trained to put the Patients health first and foremost, but that is not necessarily true of the medical system they work for or in. ""It would be unreasonable to make a commitment that cannot be met by the public purse and by extension it cannot be met by the people of the Bahamas," said Dr Sands." Perhaps we should have members of the public involved in the negotiations, you know, to represent the People of the Bahamas? to make sure we can afford this fools errand?
Overdraft to pay past due bills? sounds really solvent. Meanwhile Mc Taggart can't back up fast enough! Private sector needs to grow some, and treat Government depts/ministries etc with the contempt they deserve. Keeping Government in the 30 day column is a good start. Cutting them off when they roll into 90 day is essential.
But finance wants ALL the details, right down to the last penny. After all, if your gonna grab money, you first have to know where it is, or where it is going!
All the above are correct, and Sands is a proponent but provides all the evidence against it! Amazing. I wonder if his patient diagnoses sound as conflicted? Do they not hear themselves speak?
Define "prominent" in regards to price reduction? 5%? 15%? 20% Is anyone in Finance capable of calculating expected price reductions? 90% of "textile" goods sold in the Bahamas is purchased from the seconds market in the U.S anyway. How does one show reduction in the second, third, etc 6 month period? Continued or increased reductions? Who is keeping track? Duty while a significant cost of goods, pales in comparison to all the other operating costs. a reduction in duty is easily wiped out by a minor increase in power bills! In effect Government is attempting "price fixing" or more correctly "Margin fixing" Can a business opt out? if so, will full duty on imports subjected to Reduced duty be subject to retroactive taxation? Oh damn, I've probably just Given them headaches.
So lets get this straight: Too much "waste" for Government to "waste" its money on the NHI scheme, but the private sector can fund both existing Waste and scheme?" Kill the waste first Chief, then talk up your "great ideas" Meanwhile everyone everywhere wants more once someone else is paying for it. Paying for private insurance aught to create/award an exemption, then therefore tapping those who have not got private cover, which is a choice.
Yep, free High school education and College of the Bahamas were put in place by the PLP, Which is why they ain't worth much. There are children who will learn in any environment, they will excel by their own hand and motivation, but the masses are left behind. Soon to be the same with "free healthcare" it free but can't find none.
