The pathetic arguments and excuses issued from a weak position. I have no problem with Cruise lines/Cattle barges, they appeal to some, My argument is with Government administrations rolling over and playing dead, giving away tax concessions to the point of allowing Micky's Sovereign nation to encamp within the Bahamas! (applies to all of the cruise lines) They consume nothing locally, they hire a minimum number of low wage locals, zero benefits (health, pension, do they even observe the Bahamian labor laws?) underpaid cruise ship crew work ashore, Government basically pays them per tourist head (a recent confession!) I swear, every conversation about anything Government does aught to start with "What or which Idiot....."
"But also, we must note that the amounts suggested are no where near adequate to fund full healthcare. Canada has this system, they claim it costs over 6000 CAD per year (about 4500 usd) per person." If that is correct, (not doubting) that equates to $1.575bn US required for 350K Bahamian pop @$4500/person Cuba has great and cheap healthcare for Foreigners Deddie, It is a foreign currency earner. Me thinks the locals don't access the same depth of care.
"Dr Robin Roberts said: "What we have designed is that no one will be excluded on the basis of their current illness or charged more. We are all sharing in this cost." Would you mind sharing your net profit with us all? Or perhaps Gross revenue like Government does with license fees. A bad premise begets failure, and at great expense in this case it will be. Pure unadulterated garbage. Expensive garbage. Table the damn ACT so we poor fools who elect Idiots can read what your really going to screw up with our money lifted so nonchalantly from our pockets.
Point is the constitution provides for various services, all of which are neglected and falling apart, failed. Every new administration has failed at the core responsibilities. So lets jump on new services and taxes! All of which will fail. A Bifurcated system as stated above is what Cayman has. Citizen or legally here? N.I.B is being paid so therefore Minimal cost. Not here legally? Paid full pop. The way we Mix "Christian Values" and the Government believing they should also be in charge of our health displays our complete and utter Delusion. Get your sorry #&&es back to your core Constitutionally mandated Jobs! Fix all of that and then we can talk about what you would "like to do"
No problem, add $100,000 to payroll per year, need more? Go ahead take more ya dumb *ss. Healthcare will not improve, as that which appears free will be forever in short supply. Between this and Disney this crew will be history. Why don't you just resign and save us all the additional financial hit? The Conflict of interests aspect is blatant, Here we have a Dr. who will no doubt be over billing the system and riding his guaranteed income into the sunset. Always taking more and cannot even perform the basic services like mail, garbage pickup, water quality and quantity, power, Healthcare, defense of borders and resources, public safety, justice system, and all the above will get worse no matter how much $$ they decide they need from "The People"
Funny how we assign measures of intelligence and logical function to the Elected while we all know full well they're incompetent idiots. (who have somehow gotten a few supposed intelligent people to drink the purple koolaid.) We know they cannot run it, we know there is no airlift, we know It needs remediation, we know the crony's and ex defunct hotel management are clamoring for executive pillaging posts, And still we have hope? Not a hope in hell.
Our successive administrations have been taught many lessons, but they do not learn, preferring the heavy hand of personal power, ignoring Authority under rule of law. Un-Constitutional action is their preferred course of action or, inaction. A society unwilling to challenge the often false assertions of the Elected and appointed will suffer the consequences of their silent consent. When a Man's future hangs in the balance, the travesties of self determination are all the more apparent.
And the only catastrophe inadequately covered will be the constant state of catastrophe at the PMH, Rand and clinics. "Bahamians pay more for health than most people in the world. " and will be asked to pay even more. Can proof of private cover exempt people please?
Spineless? gutless or just plain dumb? Paid off? Bound over? Clueless? All of the above? Seems to me the decision was made prior to any consultations. Didn't the M.P show up to the town hall in a disney Tee shirt? Shows a serious lack of decorum or proud of his payoff? I've yet to see any Government negotiate any such "anchor project" properly, (right in name at least, designed to sink to the bottom and hold tight) These projects barely scatter crumbs for locals to scrap over. Today's cabinet announcement will be very telling,
