So did anyone really think we could screw our country beyond recognition and not eventually pay the price? seizing the assets of crooked politicians and Civil servants, Numbers bosses legitimized overnight etc would help but we don't seem to have the stomach for prosecuting them. In the end, the bill is due.
two percentage point have ended nothing, perhaps that drop signifies a change in political interference? (change, not end) Hell, the error % is probably greater than 2% No, until Bahamians get over the micro-management of all things both Government and private sector no major economic changes will occur, aside the ever present downslide. Whereas the U.S. has lobbying for special interests with some rules of engagement, we have it on a much more personal level with politicians in closed meetings. Zero transparency.
And what are Bahamians if not a special interest group? Licensing is needed and fine, requiring a guide is B.S. The only ones controlling anything are Bahamians and usually to the detriment of other Bahamians.
Sorry, I have to ask, it takes 7 Bahamians to replace 3 expats? Did they focus so hard on the $$ savings they missed this? "Indictment a thing that serves to illustrate that a system or situation is bad and deserves to be condemned."
Cruise line agreements have expired, (Princess/Holland America) are up for re-negotiation. This aught to get interesting....If our Govt has any clue. The whole region should get together and change the game. Meanwhile, another private Cruise ship 'Island" move ahead for G.B. Nothing but crumbs for that island either.
The PLP personalities always criticize others for its own direct and attributable vices! Never fails. It is like a tell in gambling. Blinking when lying.
The H.C.A. has greater potential for the Bahamas than it ever has, or as originally envisioned by Wallace Groves. That it has been horribly managed and mangled by the Government and shareholders does not diminish that, but it has wedged Freeport directly into the fix it are in. The Government buying Our Lucaya or "strong arming" Hutchinson is a double edged sword, They may decide to strong arm you later! Actually, Government (Ministry of finance/Customs) has been strong arming G.B. for years as is, but they have been beaten back on at least 8 occasions. No doubt Government can get Our Lucaya refurbed and open, (finding the money where?) but if they staff it in the traditional Hotel Corp manner we may as well set it alight now. We shall see.
