In Bimini snorting styrofoam? Seriously, in what way is BTVI qualified to train "Solar Inspectors"? Further to that, this Government is no more serious about Alternate energy than any other prior. Bannister has just fired Power secure and has no plan, aside probably hiring the same old deadbeats that have presided over the BEC decline for decades. Our country is a bad joke.
So, it looks like the PLP was willing to fire 200 plus un-needed workers, probably so more of them could get in on the skimming, and the FNM is scared to have them fired and so fired Power secure instead? Trying to follow the twisted logic here.........
I still want an answer on exactly where this Polystyrene came from. Was it used under floating docks as un-encapsulated (un-contained) polystyrene blanks, or as sheets of siding or insulation on buildings, or even from a free standing freezer building? The way that is fragmented and floating in tiny bits it seems it was already breaking down from UV exposure. And who is our AWOL Environmental Minister anyhow? The problem with being surrounded by incompetent people, ministers etc is that it forces micro-management by the P.M. Itself a root core national problem.
The "foreign corrupt Governments" rule or law is a U.S. law, designed to prevent U.S. corporate involvement with foreign Governments. I doubt that will come into play as "BPL" gave credit, not Power secure. I seriously doubt they exposed themselves to a law with teeth! However, There is no way anyone from Government ever told Power Secure the truth about BEC, truths which would have obviously been discovered once engaged. Had they done so, they probably would have never signed on. The real question is, what are we going to revert to? Leslie Miller? Maybe in 5 years if Bannister doesn't get busy cleaning shop. The rot runs deep.
Damned disgrace. Each and every one of these (and countless others i'm sure) should hang their damn heads in shame. That they can get so "high and mighty" on the face of the positions they held, but be skulking around doing this stuff. There are not words to assign them that would properly represent the depths of their shame. BTW, non payment of bills, does it not represent bankruptcy? could it really be a way for them to retain their seats that aught to be lost on insolvency? Endemically corrupt. Intrinsically corrupt. Uncontroversially corrupt.
And thus Mr. Miller illustrates exactly what has been the downfall of the Bahamas since independence. Politicians and senior civil servants placing themselves above the law. The Privileged few, the select. Above all the mundanities of bill paying or accountability. And well Mudda is correct, and his list isn't comprehensive either. Do not forget their "special duty exemptions" above and beyond what the common man gets. A full and complete disgrace. To hang their heads in shame low enough they would have to remove them and throw them in a banana pit!
80% of E.M.R. is probably not Bahamas code compliant, but with only one Government building inspector for east and west G.B. it is no surprise. Freeport itself has the Port building code, but again, only as good as the inspectors.
I went driving in G.B. this weekend, Williams town, imperial park, Hunters, Lewis Yard, Pinders point, I could not point to a single structure that looks like it received any re-building supplies from NEMA. Shingles, plywood, nothing. And I'm talking about after Matthew. Added to the number of derelict structures in the outskirts of Freeport itself, It was very depressing. Where have all the donated materials gone?
