In a world turning itself upside down it is no surprise however Government aught to get its own affairs in order. always fishing around to blame someone else.
Zero Credibility or responsibility.

The_Oracle says...

maybe party politics aka towing the party line is why we get substandard governance?
rule by personal power/edict is not accommodated in the westminster system of parliamentary rule, but it sure has apparently replaced the legitimate system.

Anyone think this Solar project will reduce the cost of power for Grand Bahamians let alone Abaconians?
If so I have an (as yet unbuilt) bridge to sell you......

Thats rich, A government price control inspector telling businesses in the private sector to get creative and innovate!
Government has no ability or care to understand how it is now the economic choke point in the Bahamas.
While people can bleed $$ for all these extra and increased taxes thats what they'll do.
Once they have drained the system it is all over.

The_Oracle says...

They'll have the R.O. Systems screwed up in about 5 years, once they get them installed in 5 and a half years!
The generators, well, yeah, they'll end up elsewhere.
If actually installed at a government NEMA site they'll not run when needed.
And NEMA still has no field manual, or step by step on what to do.
Plenty powers to seize and summary convicting but no sense therein.
Most Govt personnel who have experience are retired/transferred/under a bus.

The_Oracle says...

Ironic the Government is driving the increasing costs for business and citizens but refuses
the cries of Bahamian business operators.

Will they build a lithium recycling plant also, or export the dead batteries?
Or dump them in the bush........

Pressure to change our tax system is increasing via WTO accession, the IMF, etc since 2004.
Once our tax systems are comparable to other countries Tax treaties can be signed for reciprocity. (total taxation to the higher amount based on nationality and residency, split between countries if different)
The biggest problem is dumping more and more tax money into the consolidated fund with no expenditure accountability.
Resentment will be high as they bleed us out.
Duty has to be nominalized to 8-10% by 2025.........(if I recall correctly)
The secrecy in government surrounding this is disingenuous.

Bahamians shafted both directly and indirectly, RCL must've seen Mr. Cooper coming a mile away.
Wait until RCL "qualifying Bahamians" criteria is announced, along with all point of sale data running through them. It will be a cashless enclave no doubt.
Sad.
No different with Carnivals "private island" on Grand Bahama, currently silting up Grand Bahama's south shore.

Interesting he mentions "Policy" often, but I believe it has no mention in law.
A policy that will have to vanish if WTO accession is ever to be had.
