Freeport isn't even a negative blip on Hutchinson's Balance sheet.
They have what they want: a strategic Container port and land for future use.
Who's future is anyones guess.

Fred, you are trying to describe the beauty of a rose
to a blind man who blithely trods them underfoot,
wielding his spindly stick,
tapping on his meandering path.

Just drives home the point that VAT and increased taxation is foreign entity driven (imf, oecd, etc)
How could you be crying poor and increasing taxes on the one hand but Giving Money away and rewarding sloth and avarice on the other?
A PLP disgrace.

Bandit it is exactly the IMF who is driving VAT, and awaiting the data that VAT reporting will provide.
Data that up to this point has ben shielded from the Ministry of finance et al.
Wonder what they need that data for?
Not much of an imagination needed to figure that out.

We are signatory to the EU-EPA so yes,
we have to measure up to their standards.
This is what all the new legislation is about over the last 10 years, in order to comply.
7.5% VAT, will be Vat-able if the establishment takes any % of gratuities.
if it is directly passed thru to staff then no.
Some restaurants and maybe hotels do take a cut against breakages or other justifications.
In any case, VAT is not the only increase, there will be inflationary effects on room rates and amenities also.

The Port Authority has apparently been stripped of assets, all of which are now held privately, by the shareholder families and Hutchinson.
Courtesy of H.A.I. who let st. George sell the Power Company, because he needed East and EMR/West Electrified reliably as promised 1992. This sale started the liquidation.
so the question on Value would be Zero, actually it is a pure Liability especially without its assets as
It has great responsibilities.
Which is probably why none of the serious buyers have concluded a purchase.
Blank balance sheets do not sell well. It still has Massive potential though, far beyond any of the current owners vision.
Licensing and building permitting revenue is probably the Port Authority's only revenue.
Power company,Sanitation, water co, all the necessary services for a city privately held.
Time for a Judicial Review.

Easy to be conciliatory while holding a big stick!
Power to seize assets, power to empty bank accounts, seize passports, shut down businesses,
If they conduct themselves like Immigration it will get ugly.
As for customs collecting, you're gonna need a Government issued cut sheet to keep them from introducing their own rules at every level!
Added to their own insufficient training it will be rough.
Public confusion will be a big issue also, and the merchants and stores will take the heat for Government.
Mark my words, when the inevitable inflation kicks in, Government will waste no time in blaming "greedy merchants"
Ironic but with major ramifications.
Thank Ingraham and Laing when you see them.
