It may be over the head of 90% of citizens, but it can be held over the sitting Governments heads. It has been said to more than one civil servant, you have your interpretation, I have mine, but the opinion of the courts is the one that matters. Shall we ask for it?
Even with Full and prompt payment of all contributions on their behalf I wouldn't have sent my staff to wait 6-8 weeks OR MORE in Grand Bahama for benefits. Some have not received benefits to this day. A Disgrace.
I wish I could get my recovery costs back by heaping it on customers bills as an additional amount. The Port Authority as regulator is a complete failure. The Port as City Manager or developer is a complete failure. Allowing GBPC to throw recovery costs onto peoples bills is a disgrace. Note how they will put this amount outside of "rate amounts" and in short order be claiming their haven't adjusted their "rates" for x number of years. The "average" customer in GB is already disconnected!
Many business people have been trying to help for years, if not decades and get tired of wasting their time. Government(s) don't want help. Many give up. There is only so much pointlessness one can take. The same people appointed to boards, committees over and over, are there for the stipend and perks. (lunch served at meetings with appropriate carry home ferl) They sure ain't gonna say something that runs counter to sitting quiet. Myers is right, but he hasn't grown tired of trying yet.
The ERC is formed with the same "go to" people being appointed endlessly from the same limited pool, but we expect innovation and new ideas? Unreliable and expensive utilities, Crime, High cost of living, For a year? At what Cost? What is the renewal policy? Sit in Limbo praying they can stay if they wanted to? Bank accounts? Drivers Licenses? Sub standard Healthcare? High cost of Travel back and forth? Toes in the Sand at the "office"is a marvelous pitch, made 5 years ago in the Bahamas. Our successive Government don't get that we are on average 10 years behind the U.S. 15 behind the EU in so many areas of economic/technical/social life.
I want to know who "Woke" them up to this pressing issue. Claiming some anti Bahamian significance to this while adopting the U.S. Antifa anti statue anti everything else movement.
In all of this Brave and Feckless Freddie have offered no serious constructive suggestions, have flip flopped as much as Minnis, have made nothing but political pot shots. The above garbage is not worth the print.
Lockdowns are designed to slow the spread, to ease the pressure on the healthcare system, which has not improved nor will be. So spreading out the "pain" is to no purpose. Still not enough testing, not enough critical care beds, etc etc. Personally I believe the economic damage has been done. one more lockdown is going to cause serious unemployment issues beyond what has been seen.
Thy like foreign consultants because they get paid for their input, leave, and Government can safely ignore their recommendations. They cannot ignore competent Bahamians, they start yelling. Our Government fails miserably at logistics, implementation. They can take a good idea and render it unidentifiable. Tired of trying to help them. The hard headed micromanaging tunnel visioned Leadership is the real issue.
