Waiting for the port controller to make a statement that fire safety is an internal matter. I honestly dont understand why "Bahamian experience" mean everything have to look like a shantytown. Where that come from? That een Bahamian. People selling all over the sidewalk is a recent development just like running the red light... I guess you could argue that law and disorder is cultural .. how else can bribery be so profitable and commonplace... gee me 20 dollars for lunch
For items in the 6-10 dollar range, Solomons has prices 2 dollars lower than Super Value. The fruits and vegetables are as also cheaper. Same brands. The stores have the same square footage, same business license, same import duties, same electricity. Does Super Value have that much difference in staff costs to account for a 2 dollar per item difference?
Satellite service is expensive, spotty, weather sensitive and I believe slower than fibre. Just think satellite phone, nobody walks around all day using a satellite phone, it's for a very specific purpose, remote location or post disaster. All Bahamians heard was "Elon Musk" and everybody want hop on. I see why Loom, Nygard, Sam Bankman Joe Ledher ... who I miss, were successful here. All you gatta hint at is some far flung chance at money and Bahamians bite
I know 90% of the MPs salivating at the chance to get a conversation with Elon Musk. As if. Who knows how many junkanoo groups... and other "things" would get sponsored
Lol, the attached photo identifies the father @93 as the one on the "left". But that is indeed incredible. That strength and endurance at 93. They're both doing a good work
"*Lt Cdr Wright said while this may become apparent as investigations continue, staff conduct is a matter for the company and its internal operating procedures. He suggested existing laws and regulations do not cover this.*"
I saw a video of the sinking on cnn.com, hopefully they dont start reporting on the statements from our officials, because **we sound like morons.**
**How can a spokesman from a govt regulatory body say how a commercial sea vessel choses to train staff to handle passenger safety in an emergency is an internal matter???** "*existing laws do mot cover this*" of course not, our MPs too busy making sure their christmas billboards get put up
The PM calling Sam Bankman asking for advice for his son, Sam being asked to release money to Bahamians first by "*somebody*", An MP accused of rape sitting in the House of Parliament for almost 3months while the police try to first get the accuser to sign a document not to press charges, then run round the mulberry bush trying to determine how not to press charges, another sitting MP hanging out 250k in contracts to paint a water tank, another sitting MP saying handing out contracts at Beaches and Parks to supporters, everybody knows how this works (no we dont all know, we did suspect corruption though), Christina Rolle frantically emailing Sam Bankman after the rumours of a reported collapse of FTX was reported outside the Bahamas trying to find out how many clients he had, another sitting minister stating in a public trial that he had no issue with nepotism then asking about lunch.
I thought the same of Superintendent Skippings' comments, she immediately surmised "*this is due to bad weather*". If that were the case you would have heard about numerous vessels, operating normally, on the water but experiencing difficulties. The second oddity (from earlier reporting) was the reported response of the crew, it was almost comical, something youd expect to have seen on Airplane the Movie, "*one crew member ran upstairs hysterical and grabbed a life vest (for herself)*", noone should have been characterizing anything over those minutes as "normal"
I heard one gentleman say something like, "*the dominoes players have to go in now and win some votes and that you lose elections over tshirt and beer.*" I realized then that the country is lost. The majority vote based on tshirt and beer and they elect people like them to represent them and those people "*have no issue with nepotism*", so it dont matter what you call it, 2 party system, a republic, local govt, is da same people giving their vote for tshirt and beer.
"*So if a shot goes off in a particular area, the CCTVs would also receive that signal and will emanate on the screen or be produced on the screen so the officers in the Real Time Crime Centre will be able to see exactly the cameras in that area in addition to the precise location where those shots emanated from.”*
"*And so that gives the officers in the Real Time Crime Centre, once it’s captured on those cameras, an actual view of possible suspects in that area so that you can be able to speak to those officers or pass that information on to those officers who are patrolling to that particular incident.”*
This is almost word for word what I posted here years ago. In reference to the fact that Shotspotter as they were using it was useless and they needed to pair with CCTV to get real time views of crime. Marvin Dames repeated the idea shortly after.
Let's see the legal protections for homeowners before you get access to their feeds. In our system this has the potential to go horribly wrong. Handing over a tape to the police and giving them access to a live camera in your backyard are two completely different things. People should not trust that their privacy will be protected just because this is for "good"
Govt is continuous, the way out of our mess are parties that work together to solve problems. The election results would depend on who's better at managing the change.
We get this mess because the bottom has risen to the top and it promotes it's own. The bottom is exposed to the wind when crisis hits. Then it becomes obvious that, oh yes, the brain isnt in the bottom it's in the top. That's why we get stupid statements from board members like "*I support nepotism*". The bottom at the top.
Currently we fight over who's most incompetent and least corrupt. Both parties give us a group of truly unqualified candidates. Why is Vaughn Miller at environment when the PMs focus is climate change? It's a clear signal to me that it's an intangible goal that noone really expects to do anything about but it makes for great pics, speeches and world stage grandstanding as we simultaneously cut down all the hills in Andros for dirt and kill the mangroves and dredge all the harbours for more mass tourism.
