"*Robert Farquharson, the Government's top labour official, said the reduction in the Bahamian workforce's size compared to May 2019 levels, together with the shrinkage in the number of Bahamians actually employed, needed further analysis to determine the cause.*"

Confused. Shouldnt they have come with this answer when they reported the numbers? Because we know they are not coming back with an explanation in 2 weeks or 2 years. The fact that they didnt appears to bolster Kwasi Thompson's argument.

See, that's the koolaid speaking now.

Because in every marketing campaign I see for the Bahamas is portrayed by some white woman in a bikini on a white sand beach with clear blue water. While you may distinguish our blue water from St Kitts, Jsmaica or Trinidad blue water (weirdly it is different), all the tourist see is a tropical island. And as to sprinkling junkanoo in the commercial, all they see is a cultural festival. Wake up. Een no tourist on junkanoo beach because the Bahamas is uniquely different from Jamaica. They come because we're closer to them

You know just why Pookie een getting in the infinity pool

I agree about the koolaid. I am 2000% against building a Bay St experience to exclude Bahamians.... again. Cuz they for sure ain't allowing Bain Town Pookie in the infinity pool.

If lslandWarrior truly wants a Riviera experience, go to France. The Bahamas brand is *Caribbean Island* we dont seem to get it. *Be who you is, not who you aint*

In the week following the election one vocal PLP supporter proudly announced "*my govt in power, dont be mad at me when I get my contract*", and sure thing not long after he was telling the nation repeatedly how he'd gotten his crown land in Nassau. If this is an example of why 4 times the number of crown land leases were granted...

"*the much-vaunted Dubai trip the government took? What tangible benefits came of that?*"

A year later is too late to ask the questions. Before and while the Dubai trip was happening I kept asking what we'd be presenting. Dubai 2020 was supposed to be about innovation and sustainability, at least thats what the rest of the world prepared for. Our PM approved funding for a dreyload of people to "*sing and dance*"

But I figured out why we always getting bamboozled. First we have a white saviour complex and second we've been trained/brainwashed to sell our souls for money. So when the white brown and sometimes black man comes along and starts dropping words like billions and millions, especially if they selling anything that we dont have the first clue about, we dont even do the minimum due diligence. Get that man a meeting with the PM immediately! This another great opportunity for smart young Bahamians.

I chuckled a few weeks ago when tbe news surfaced that Elon Musk was seeking a mobile license. Just at the mention of his name the regular *all up in its* started rambling about "*opportunities*". Based on what?

Cruise port...ooh opportunitues get ready. Oil ... ooh opportunities get ready. The Port... oooh opportunities get ready. Now while we asking questions too late about OceanGate, GhanaGate going on right in front of our eyes

Said the same thing. I think this article mentioned "*tours*" starting in December. Who checks these things? The next stop would have been the morning show where the host would gush about how wonderful this was for the Bahamas and tourism... based on...

"*Its completely inappropriate for a vessel that experiences external pressure..*" James Cameron on cnn speaking about the material used for the hull.

It negates the concept that the vessel was "*tested*". Its really too bad as loss of life resulted.

The eastern Caribbean has been attracting eco tourists for decades, way before COVID. I recall commenting years ago that in all of our marketing we show pictures of one or two people walking along miles of secluded beach or relaxing in a hammock, then they get here to sit on junkanoo beach. Like a bucket of ice water. We dont even know our own product. And we want RCI and Disney to replicate that.

"*The Titan submersible vessel was **tested** in Abaco in 2019.*"

Bahamas First will tell you they "*tested*" their system before they implemented it too. Didnt you read the account of the team member who said he raised alarms that the hull was 5" when the recommendation was 7". There's "testing" and there's "*hurry up with that testing we losing money*"

"*catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber,”*

Sounds like "*testing*" was an issue. Very very sad, the crew were most likely bright individuals who had lots of years of discovery to contribute to mankind
