"*Suggesting that EDI “integration” will also produce greater efficiencies and reduce the cost associated with clearing imports, the Ministry of Finance said: “EDI submissions, while reducing revenue losing errors, are also quicker, which means that the importer can get his goods released by Customs much faster. A submission, which can take days to prepare under UI, can be done in hours through EDI.*"

Customs simply paid for a very bad system that was ill suited to facilitate the processing customs brokers actually have to do. I recall when they first implememted Click2Clear they said *this the way the system works and theyll have to do it this way*... basically. Said at the time that this was backwards design. What Finance is now doing is essentially forcing customs brokers to pay for new software to cover up their badly designed software. Which ultimately means the Bahamian people will see increased import fees due to another poor contract award. bleeding GDP

I dont think people get that OUR research told us we'd make 2m annually, thats OUR research. Theyre currently making 10m annually. That is what the airlines are complaining about. **Even by our OWN estimates the fees are ginormous**

For the record, if Atlantis ever books BTS I'll run away to see them too.

Unfortunately the public isnt really interested in anything until it's a crisis at which point govt *reacts*. Wait for a story on a tourist who dies swimming in ferix off Abaco or eating contaminated fish or all the fish stock disappearing, you'll have all kind of commentary on *how the govt allow that situation? Who need to resign?* blah blah. Govt loves our ability to be easily distracted and to not focus on our crumbling framework

"**Police urge people to plan a strategy in case of home invasion**"

I dont know what to say.... I guess this would be in lieu of the police having a strategy to combat crime

It would truly be interesting if someone could create a model to estimate the cost of the friends families and lovers policy. For example, one person at the start of the new administration was heard to say "*y'all dont get mad if y'all hear I get contract, my party in charge*", what was the opportunity cost of that? How much did we lose by giving an unqualified, visionless sycophant an unearned contract? What could someone granted the same amount but with a moonshot idea have done for the country?

Then what about crown land? How many people were granted crown land intended for growth and development only to sell off to a foreigner? What has that cost the country over 50 years?

And what about the effect on productivity. There is nothing that affects productivity more than having a brain dead person placed over true professionals, Adrisn Gibson and Lanisha Rolle come to mind. How much did their scorched earth policies in their respective ministries **really** cost us?

What about gaming? What did that disastrous decision do to us?

I do think we need growth, but I believe we are bleeding GDP points under our current system
