At 4:15??? Are they serious? The guy in Inagua said they had maybe 20mph winds. Even Turks and Caicos only had tropical storm force winds. This sounds like a PR team looking for a disaster to manage. Evacuating people was a waste of resources, I heard people talking about plywood and battening down, for what? Plywood is expensive, why you make them people rush and buy those supplies for a non event? It was clear from last week Thursday when they issued a hurricane watch... for who knows what...that this was not headed our way, jiggle, wobble or not.

They needed to save their money, we still gat 2 months to go.

I dont think he meant any disrespect to people who lost relatives. He has a valid point, it does seem as if to date its **all** ceremony and not much actual progress

I agree with sheeprunner. Its a Dorian obsession. what has come of 3 years of talking about the worst disaster ever? Nothing. It is an obsession, a billboard, a park cleanup, a school bag give away, roses on Mothers day, chocolate on valentines. Busy work.

The world moving on, correction "moved on", we cannot be hung up on one disaster forever. Set some relief goals, get them accomplished because hurricane season comes every yeae

I was at a standstill a few minutes ago, no cars behind me, none, and this school kid who was standing on the side of the road just decided to walk in front of my car as I was pulling off. I was going 5mph. Pedestrians are not always guiltless, especially the school kids they take nonsensical pleasure in challenging a moving instrument of steel.

Not sure vindictive is the right word here. The DRA is rightfully doing an inventory check for money spent to help victims of hurricane Dorian. They find out that hundreds of thousand of dollars of equipment is being stored at a church. It is their right and their duty to go and examine the inventory to determine if it is still there, the condition it is in and decide whether they want it to remain there or be moved to alternate hopefully more secure locations

The one thing I hope they havent done is look at the amount of money that Mills is making in storage fees and decided to give that money to a supporter or family member. No evidence that that is what happened just wondering where they would have found the space to store the equipment on DRA property all of a sudden

Another thing about rain and these systems, it really depends on where the storm hits you. If you looked at the weather forecasting for Puerto Rico those weather guys were able to say district by district the amount of rain the residents should expect. They did not tell everybody it looks like 20" of rain. Thats correct information use. People are aware of the general case but get to prepare for the conditions directly affecting them. We saw this with Dorian, even for those tiny islands, some parts of Abaco and Grand Bahama were hit worse with wind and flooding because of the position of the storm, the lay of the land and where the eye crossed. Rain also affects mountainous regions differently , they get fast moving deadly water. We get slow rising stationary water. There are so many variables to consider over generalized hype and panic

I agree with sheeprunner, Dorian and hurricane Betsy are not sufficient justification to declare a hurricane watch for a storm currently projected to pass to the east of even the southern most islands leaving us with "maybe" max 50mph winds. They should have a tropical storm watch maybe a severe weather alert and a flooding alert. Misusing information is the worst thing you can do with any storm.

Can things change in a heartbeat? Yes. When they change you update the alert, that's the exact purpose of having a regularly scheduled alert system. If we're saying now we have to declare a hurricane watch for 60mph off our coast because we need to be cautious, why not just leave a hurricane alert in place from June through November? Keep everybody on their toes.

I believe it was David when I listened to shingles ripping off the roof one after the other and wondered how long was it going to last and would the roof be next. That was the last of my hurricane excitement.

Commission of inquiry. Great men can have great vices same as small men

you do realize it affected Guadeloupe directly right? even for the southern islands the path looks like it will skirt them. While we need to be vigilant we need to use information correctly and not induce panic. And yes projections can change
