Great news!! We might have the solution to crime! Last week a man and a woman forced a proprietor to write a cheque then went into the bank to cash the cheque. I wonder how long they had to stand on that line and how many as angles the camera catch them from... hmmm.

We must study the dumb criminal more and devise strategies to work with them to bring down our crime numbers

If Carl Hield is better than any of our 20 year old boxers take him. Age should not be his disqualification factor. It may simply be that the best we have is not competitive on the world stage, "yet". So "today" winning isnt the goal. The goal could be the Bahamas was represented, or an athlete got experience, those are legitimate. The important thing is to know the goal before you go then perform your best. Just showing up makes you a contender.

Other than Taureno I havent heard of any break through boxers in recent years, if I remember the account correctly, Taureno was picked up by someone outside the Bahamas who recognized his talent and they poured money into his training

I agree with everything you said. As an athlete you know the odds are against you, you know the govt is gonna dissapoint you once again like a bad girlfriend/boyfriend, so some of it is on you. These schedules are prepared ahead of time and have to be approved by somebody on the local team. And if you dont know the exact opponent you're at least familiar with the pool and the contenders. Shouldnt someone know he could face a taller athlete? Shouldnt someone have said this is the strategy you use to box a taller opponent? And how can you be entered in the wrong weight class? I'd accept it if he put on weight and couldnt qualify for his weight class until he dropped some pounds, but not he was entered in the wrong class. These are some I just wasnt serious mistakes on the organizers part with the athlete themselves having to take some responsibility

**You say that as if honesty and good character are impossible achievements.**

Age not withstanding, there's a price for bad decisions. Disqualification from participation is one. We should assess ALL of the people we put forward to write our laws and touch our treasury funds. Some past actions that demonstrate poor character, greed or unethical behaviour auromatically make you unworthy of consideration. A reformed rapist should not be in parliament for example, he can do good work elsewhere. **The one thing we must absolutely NOT do, and that I see too many people doing today, is say, it doesnt matter what criminal activities you took part in. Wrong. You steal, launder or embezzle funds from a govt agency, lifetime disqualification**

Good to hear a story of a life turned around. The road to destruction is broad and as many as can be convinced to leave it for the narrow path, the better.

However, life doesnt often give do overs or clean slates. Walking the wrong path can take its toll in many ways, loss of friends and family, loss of time, loss of limbs or eyesight and sometimes loss of trust. There's a price for your decision that, despite your turnaround , life will demand of you. For example, there are professions that outright reject persons with criminal records. Off the bat eliminate anything where you'd have to hold a client's money in trust. The loss of trust is one such price. The door by way of the legal profession may be closed to you but because you are here and breathing, there's another righteous way, it's your job to find it.

Just another example of old tired useless analysis. The ambassador knows the Bahamas can't create any kind of visa system that would stem the tide of let's say 100,000 Haitian nationals who want to migrate illegally. And 100,000 is being stingy with the numbers. These people paid 10,000 a piece.

"*Unfortunately, the 21-year-old Jonas was much better prepared.*"

"*As the shorter of the two competitors, Williams found himself in a tough situation..*"

"*had to lose the weight because I was put in the wrong weight class*"

It's ok not to win if you did your best, that's all anyone can ask of you. But we are still making too many excuses for not being prepared, not knowing the opponents, not assessing strengths and weaknesses etc etc. This isnt sports development, this is sports *throw the dice in the air and whatever happens and happens*

"*If gasoline goes up to $9 a gallon then The Bahamas is in problems*"

Why should gasoline go up to $9? Gas prices have been on a steady decline in the US for almost 2months now, down almost 60c (why wasn't this mentioned in the story about gas prices?) but theres no pressure on the dealers to adjust prices
They was quick enough to adjust when prices went up.

He turned himself in, we should thank him for his great work finding the killer.

There's just too much hype over the capture of pawns. We need to hear about the strategies that dismantle the organizations and put the white collar millionaire boss who's contributing to political parties behind bars. He still out there getting the next batch of 10th graders guns.

It baffles me why so many of our police officers are overweight. I saw some pics of the officers who responded to that school shooting in Texas was it? They had on all the tactical gear and the military issue shades but again all overweight. My first thought was how can they respond to anything? And I personally know how much work it is to lose weight but you in the military, physical fitness should be a part of breathing.
