My response was "*prepare the COVID beds*".

At the time I was commenting about 2 things, the relationship between travel and COVID and obesity and COVID. I recall communicating what I suspected to one individual and that person literally saying to me "I hear you but I dont believe it", because noone else was saying it at the time. Renward Wells was running around like a stern parent saying *Bahamians just need to learn to behave*. And the general sentiment in the media and from health officials was everything would be okay if y'all would just "*behave*". This was exactly what the individual I spoke to parroted. But the data didn't bear it out. There was plenty evidence of bad behaviour and no COVID spread between November 2020 and Early March 2021, in fact there was a marked decrease in cases. but as soon as a "fresh" batch of carrier potentials arrived, deaths started increasing.

Do we want tourism to stop so the danger of COVID spread is removed? No. But we certainly want officials to stop with the one sided tourism *holy grail speak* and acknowledge in the same communication that the very thing we love could kill us, literally, and "message" and act accordingly

What I look for now is any country in the world with a significant spike in hospitalizations and deaths. The intersection of that phenomenon with a spike in travel and your outcome is predictable. The good news may be there are no dire reports out there "yet", only the blind focus on number of Omicron infections, in my opinion not a big deal unless infections have a significant correlation to hospitalizations

This isnt a PLP blunder and its not about "carnival". This is about the "system". They (both parties) want to frane it as a ruduculous argument over amusement park rides, but it has a much deeper significance

Why is it that a party can only sponsor the carnival when theyre in power? If this is such an excellent fund raiser, you would think that the PLP would have continued the practice in and out of office. Or is it the true case thst the only time the party can bend the rules and tilt the power of govt to their advantage to make this a profitable enterprise is when theyre in power? Remember the years why you wondered why the carnival was still here in late January? Could a "normal business" afford the fees assiciated with extending their operation if the sitting govt didnt have a hand in their pocket?

Some say this is much ado about nothing. And on the surface sure, a kiddie carnival whats the big deal? But what it says about political patronage, graft, unethical pay to play schemes and rule bending for friends and family lovers and now financial donors, in both parties is telling.

And this is only the tip that we accidentally stumbled over. How were gaming opetators able to continue ipersting illegally fir decades? How is the fake document scams at Road Traffic and Immigration and the Passport office undetectable? How do Haitian migrants bypass the defence force so often? How does a gaming operator run a human smuggling enterprise for years? How is gun running completely undetectable? When have you ever heard of a gun dealer being caught?
