"*Prime Minister Philip Davis KC said The Bahamas could earn some $140m in new revenue per annum once the tax has been implemented and in place for a full year.*"
All of which will go down the drain wasted on unnecessary projects, kickbacks and under the table treasury grabs or unnecessary travel to some award ceremony as the deficit in the same year grows by 280m. I see no upside. But we een calling the shots.
Yeah I know, said as much in a previous post, point is, you've lost the business, even if it survives you'll get kicked out and someone else will be CEO. seeking investment without a real need and a plan for the investment is not a good idea. But I give him the benefit of the doubt that it was more than he saw the sign so he thought he'd ask.
"*Investors have not received their share certificates, and the Issuers were assessed additional fees by the company not shown in their listing agreement. We have started a verification/reconciliation process for one issuer to ensure completeness of its share register and will undertake a similar exercise for the remaining issuers.*"
What was the Securities Commission doing in terms of oversight? And we're going to guide Botswana???
"*nvolved in it.
"The whole thing was an innocent idea. I was having a beer at Spritz. ArawakX was right in front of me. I thought I may as well knock on the door and give my customers a chance to invest in the business.*"
Maybe theres more to the decision process than he's saying but seeking investors shouldnt be such a *btw* thought process. You're seeking investment dollars because you have a very specific thing to do and you've worked this thing out strategically and how it will pay off. Cause if it doesnt work, the investors get your business (unless you have a rich uncle to pay back the money)
I'd like the PM to relay why he let the police harass the BEC union president's elderly parents. I hope the mother doesnt have a heart attack. Recall one of the US capital police dying of a heart attack a day or so after the storm on the Capital building due to stress. We know the police here dont make any high profile moves without checking in.
"*Having a say in how it is run" doesn't translate in being a bully*"
"*shouldnt*" is the operative word. The reality is it does. Many people see it play out in this country and on their jobs. The people with power do what they want. Even if its counterproductive to the goal.
but extremely odd for a minister of foreign affairs to almost poo poo the threat of illegal immigration. Ive always wondered who exactly was profiting from the illegal racket in forged documents and why it never gets resolved. Also why Shame was so interested in getting back into politics.
I listened to the President of Botswana, he said he wants to find out how we got to 9million visitors. I find both this and the last Tourism Minister are overly arrogant about what they did to accomplish this. I have a short answer for the President of Botswana, find a way to move your country within a 30 minute plan ride of one of the largest consumer economlies in the world and you too can have 9million tourists. In fact because you also have an ecotourism base with interesting things for people to do and see, you might make it 18million
