Generally speaking, it's high time that officials and govt board directors take their title, their fiduciary duty and their name seriously. Theres nothing "*simple*" about signing a document that binds the govt or a corporation to anything.
"*Stellar, in its original statement of claim, laid out multiple allegations. It described Messrs Allen and Forbes as government “agents” who promised then-prime minister Perry Christie would arrange a $40m guarantee for the project, and bragged: “We hold the key to the kingdom*"
Do secret agents of the govt exist? Are people running around telling investors "*I have direct access to the PM*? And do they? If they exist, what rules govern their behaviour or their access? There is that private company that claimed to "*facilitate*" the business permits for the Christmas kiddie carnival. In some really strange arrangement the political party "*in power*" gets 200,000 dollars from the owner. The "*in power*" part is beyond strange.
"*Neither himself nor any of the principals in the Christie administration, some of whom are in Cabinet today, have ever explained the events that occurred.*"
*This newspaper obtained a May 26, 2014, letter written by Michael Halkitis, then-minister of state for finance, to the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Bahamas country representative stating that “the Government has issued an initial LOI” to Stellar Energy.*
*That letter was dated some five to six weeks before Mr Wells signed the LOI, suggesting key members of the Christie Cabinet knew of its existence in advance and of the Government’s intentions - at least at that point - to sign it. There is nothing, though, to suggest Mr Halkitis did anything wrong*
Which begs the question why did the PLP administration allow this to drag through court? This isnt national security. Or is it?
After listening to a slew of Bahamian men justify marital rape... correction, reject that there can be such a thing because a married man owns his wife's body and can do whatever he wants when he wants even if she's not willing... God save us all from monsters.
This would be truest in the case of a one time incident. This rape charge alledges a pattern. Witness testimony can be compelling especially if there is contemporaneous evidence to support the testimony.
The "physical evidence" he spoke to were the pictures of bruises to the neck and damage to the eye. It's pretty hard for someone to choke themselves with sufficient force to cause bruising. Interesting that Cornish accompanied her on the eye visit. More like "odd". Partners accompanying on a baby check up, moral support when hearing an opinion on mysterious symptoms, or to assist with mobility issues, sure... Eye exam? Not so much.
Perpetrator can say anything, if "*I didnt do it*" was sufficient for an acquittal, the jails would be empty. I'm not so certain if even the most hardcore sadomasochist would ask to be poked in the eye with sufficient force to cause serious damage to the eye
The worst feeling anyone can have is that of being trapped with nowhere or noone to turn to. That is feeling that many women in abusive marriages must have.
There's something there, "generally". The role of research is to test the boundaries. Something as simple as losing weight is "anti-aging", back pain, knee pain, neck pain, posture, breathing etc and regimented physical activity can be "reverse aging". A large percentage of Bahamians never know/feel the difference. I wont dismiss that at a cellular level there's more there, cant say if this is it. Could be good genes.
Not certain if the assumption is correct but shouldnt this be a very simple matter. Why is the govt spending what will be hundreds of thousands possibly millions on this? Is this simply to save the face of one man as most wars are? The expenses the govt incurred, what the law says the govt should do to recoup any excess expenditure and whether the GBPA had the resources in said year to pay the excess if any.
The more fundamental question is what exactly is the point of the ministry of GB? The one thing I will say about local govt is of implemented MPs might finally understand that their primary responsibility is good laws for good governance and not mothers day billboard signs and back to school giveaways.
