It doesn't matter if a wife does not take her husband's name nor whether her husband "might be bi-sexual". What does matter is whether you are married or not rape is rape! A wife is not a piece of property or a second class citizen. She is a woman who has every right to say no should she want to.
Who would want to have sex with someone who hasn't bathed in a week and stinks of booze. No one regardless if married to the drunken slob or not. Just because the husband in horny isn't a reason to demand sex.
When men realize that rape is not sex but the power over someone will they understand about marital rape! Grow up Bahama men and get some education on the subject.
Please don't bring the Bible into this. The Lord gave each of us a brain to use....so use it!
When I lived in Nassau 30 years ago we had a Haitian gardener whom we paid every day that he came by. Many times he brought bananas, sours, guavas etc and we paid for them as well. I never asked where the produce came from and he never said.
I agree with you VDSheep. Rebuild Rugged Island as a sustainable, eco island as an example of what the other Family Islands could work toward. This will help the Bahamas in so many ways; employment being the number one issue.
I doubt the pastors of the Bahamas care how many children are born out of wedlock. They are too involved in politics than in worrying about the people.
The problem with the Bahamas is the lack of education and respect for themselves and others. The Bahamas has become a country of politicians who, once in power, become selfish and corrupt. There is a need for politicians to take control of the country and make parents accountable, teachers and pastors to be more accountable to teach what is as simple as right from wrong, teach children to be respectful of themselves and to others.
Ronnie Butler was such a fabulous singer, song writer and showman. One every trip I made to Nassau I spent at least one evening at whatever club he was at at the time. He was always such a great performer and remembered us from the previous trip.
I have all of his records and still play them when the spirits moves me. Ronnie will be missed.
ThisisOurs, your idea is a great one and I hope someone will run with it. In the meantime get the island cleaned up...trash was everywhere in the spring of 2017...the worst areas were right around the airport and downtown. Also, get the murder count under control. Many people are put off by such a large number of people being shot. It doesn't matter that those being shot are mostly young locals. Something like this is a turn-off to tourists...and residents alike. People need to be proud of their country and take back what it had in its glory days.
If the police did as you suggest all hell would break out with everyone screaming police brutality. The mindset of the Bahamian people also needs to change. Too many young women are having babies that they are not capable of raising. The father is never around because he's too busy spreading his seed everywhere. I know of so many men who brag about having 15 - 20 children by 8 - 10 women. Few of these children are raised to become decent adults because their parents are not equipped. Start by raising your kids to respect their bodies and not having babies so young.
Next, round up all the "gang bangers" lock them all up somewhere where no one else can be harmed then let her go at each other until he realise just how rediculous revenge is or they have all killed each other.
