The thing is Guy, if they could get away with not paying at all they would. Organizations (including the Bahamian Gov't) work for the main objective of generating profit. So workforce reductions not because it can't be afforded, but that it would cut into the profit of those at the top.

More poor people, more people willing to do crap jobs for next to nothing. The grand scheme is as long as Bahamians can't help themselves, they will always be disenfranchised because that's what makes this country profitable for investors and gov't alike

ya i want to kno the story behind the things not being built to the building code. Am i to think that was done intentionally to leverage some alternate motives?

positive economic impact is that there is more money distributed amongst workers rather than employers gaining larger profits. Which is to say the common person should have more spending money (or atleast enough to cover current expenses, especially since Cost of living goes up, and now VAT on top of that). As for the Bahamas being competitive??? It's not $ value that makes bahamas competative, as it is if it is not the most expensive vacation destination in the region, it is absolutely amongst the most expensive already. People come here because it's close, and it's an English speaking country that is NOT Jamaica. With the crime situation, hand in hand with so many other issues here currently, the competitiveness of our geography may not be enough. Cuba is also not Jamacia and truss me people will go there instead. Canadians have long favoured Cuba over Bahamas due to it being cheap as hell

Yes I noticed this too. And yes I also notice when they skip numbers (are those homicides not reported?). There are also the mysterious deaths, as well as then police shoot and kill people (neither of which are officially counted). Add to this the numerous attempted murders (shootings leaving hospitalized victims) and i wonder how all this does happen on an island 21 by 7 jhed jah kno
