"On Friday, Ms Davis, 46, said she came to the “end of the rope” with Shemicka and threw her out, after Shemicka disrespected her.
“She had an attitude problem and would never take responsibility for her actions. She blamed everyone but herself, that is why she came to stay with me, no one else in the family would take her in because of her attitude. She would be happy one minute, then angry the next,” Ms Davis said."
It's sad that the deceased relative feels it necessary to casually make such a statement on 'disrespect' when there are 3 lives lost! It's more than clear the young lady had issues and needed her family who would have seen her circumstances more clearly than she was seeing them; and with a bit of understanding and compassion. This is what depression and other psychological issues does.. it clouds the mind. I feel terrible for Shemicka and her family; but defaming her at this time now that she's gone, is not the right thing to do because the mother cannot defend herself. This to me does not show good character on the cousin's part. No one should be disrespected in their own home, but as one mother to another.. The mother may have been a problem, but what about the innocent babies in all of this?
Forgive me, just venting because this story hits so close to home!
"....... Hubert Ingraham never fully gave an explanation as to the alleged bribe taken by Earl Deveaux when he took a chartered helicopter ride to Exuma! To this day we're still waiting for full disclosure."
I guess you didn't get the memo.. that particular situation is on back log. He's still working on it! What these 'goones' fail to realize is that Bahamians have memory like elephant; it's very very long. We don't forget nuttin!
"...why open this hotel just for opening sake, if it is not going to be ready to blow the minds of the visitors? For politics? That's why this rushed opening is happening? So that the government can have something to brag about now that it is in campaigning mode?"
Agreed! It's disheartening to know they are running into these issues so early in the game. When this Baha Mar project came online.. I was thinking, another Albany! I didn't have much hope for it meeting the grand expectations constantly publicized about by politicians and newspapers alike. Or, it would come out the gate blazing with all the sparkles and party favors and slowly but surely, not too far into the distant future, fall short. For me, something just isn't right about the fate of this enterprise. I hope for the 5k jobs being gained by Bahamians that it will in fact succeed far beyond what we all would have imagined. But something just tells me this has disaster written all over it. Time will tell.
Your statement comes from a place of self-importance and ignorance. Just because a person has a nice car, clothes and home does not make one want to go out and kill them! There are definitely more factors at play to what is happening within our little society. There are many families scraping the bottom (barely getting by) who have little or no opportunities for making their situations better; and it ain't for the lack of trying either! I'm not saying that we don't have a few bad apples there, but they are amongst EVEN those of higher social standing. (Call no name, carry no blame) So before you get on your high horse looking down on us small folk; as so many of these young "paper chasers" think they have all the answers. Please look around.. its not all about you!
btw.. You are a prime example of where the mindset of our youth are today. Sorry but material things such as clothes don't make the man/woman. It's not what you have, but your perception, moral values and how you treat your fellow man.
Then the Tribune is guilty majority of the times for misleading headlines etc... Why are you here??? UserOne is not being malicious, he is like all of us trying to understand what happened. Our hearts are with the family, and if any of us (readers) come across anything pertaining to this incident you can be sure as hell we'd report it. Knowledge is power! Someone may know someone, who may let slip and speak such details around the wrong person. Here's to hoping this family can find peace and justice very soon.
