"Simply loving people for God's people instead of their nationalities or color."
I can understand your point in some respects but not all. Bahamians love to interact with different nationalities and races hun. What is a known problem and a fact is that when people from different races migrate to other countries they don't assimilate. They bring 'their' culture with them and expect to carry out the very same practices in someone else' country; and expect people to just 'deal with it'! "Haitian and proud", "Dominican and proud", "Fill in the blank and proud" are statements that's pretty superfluous if you ask me! No one is knocking your culture, if you're so proud why have you migrated? This is the question I pose. People need to make sense!
My thing is this... If you migrated for the reasons of a better life. Obvious if the country of your choice is better off than where you left; can't it be that their doing something right??! If you're gonna migrate and DEMAND that the country bends to your needs is very very selfish way of thinking. YES! An individual should be treated as a human being with dignity, but No, I wont change the system that's been in place to accommodate you! If you don't like the way things are done, you have the option to leave just as you came. Simple!
Please don't speak for the rest of us! I don't agree with you being ashamed to be Bahamian due to the fact that a few clueless people made a mistake. For people like Fred Smith, you making a statement like that is golden for him.
Your comment is exactly the snark attitude she's talking about. This is her 'truth' and ordeal she's been through which some are facing. Staying or just giving up and replanting somewhere else. I'm currently in the Bahamas after being absent for a while; and honestly I'm contemplating moving back to Europe. It's not that you don't love the Bahamas, but the reality is that most of us don't know how good we have it on these pebbles in the ocean. We screw ourselves by not taking action and properly demonstrating (Not at all agreeing with the KKK rattlers at Junkanoo) 'when' the time calls for it. We sit back and rant. No Action! Education and facility infrastructure is garbage, no clear direction for our youths. It seems at times that majority of our children can only aspire work in hotels; and the few that get so far doing their little 'black-crabbing' to survive in the private sector. No one cares about the next, only that they are able to 'come up' and be seen.
Yeah she's paying Uncle Sam but at least she knows where her money is going! Who's handling/watching 'OUR' monies? The very same PLP and FNM Jokers? Please!
Well done to our government that has created such a cesspool of an economy! Old cars on the road, mountain of pollution, the average Bahamian can't find decent wages, or spend the little they do earn to actually stimulate the economy. I'd rather stay home and read a book than to go out, and accumulate VAT TAX expenses on over-priced items. :(
I was saying the same thing! What is this dude going on about? I haven't seen a 'cost of living' drop since I was living home as a child. It's expensive to live in the Bahamas as a middle class Bahamian. Especially, if you live in Freeport! I had to ration if I could afford to treat myself to Burger King etc. for the week.
So please notify me when things ARE really getting better!
