I agree. Whenever we talk about slavery we always leave out the role of the Africans who sold their own people into slavery.

Seriously? People aren't concerned about police officers doing 12 hour shifts? What about burn out? What about fatigue? Do we want tired police officers trying to carry out their duties which at times put them in danger? If Dr. Nottage is telling the truth that he has only heard positive feedback, perhaps he needs to do a $5,000,000.00 opinion poll.

Rory, recently some of your posts were worth reading. However, you seem to have slipped back to the ranting with name calling that other bloggers have objected to in the past. Try getting it together again; your posts are not worth reading when you engage in ranting and name calling.

Yeah, we already have documentation. The question is whether we will have to carry it around all the time. Then another question is what happens if you don't have it on you when you are asked for it?

You should be ashamed, SP, for suggesting that unemployment justifies violence.

Retire the horses and let the surrey drivers and the minister pull the carriages. See how long they last.

The Oracle, you should be ashamed of your post; nobody should be discriminated against in public places. Rory, you are absolutely right about the blatant disrespect for the disabled when people park in their spaces. I know a disabled person who says she can't go shopping for herself because the handicapped spaces are always taken. However, legislating equal opportunities for the disabled (and enforcing the legislation) will perhaps begin to make people more aware of their actions and how they limit the disabled in our society.

Demetrius Pinder has been a victim of a crime, plain and simple. The comments above are blaming the victim; what's that all about? Put the blame where it belongs - on the perpetrator of the crime.

The car I was traveling in was hit by a drunk driver; he was killed. I was almost killed as well - seat belts saved me. He was insured but his insurance company tried every means they could to get out of liability for my injuries. I hate going out at night now because there are so many drunk drivers on the road. As for the case in the story above, $6,000.00 for a life just shows the completely lax and irresponsible attitude people in authority have towards this matter. Perhaps they trivialize it because if they took it more seriously many of them would have to look at their own behaviour in this regard.
