Why has this story, which could have far reaching effects on the Bahamas, gone quiet? In late February we had Attorney General Bethal no less state BPC "...have already commissioned and have an agreement with a major oil company." Why do we hear nothing on this matter? The government should be held to account and told to inform on what it knows, this is a freedom of information right.
Porcupine, all you ever do is post hate, you never come up with any answers. All you do is blame the administration for this or someone else is corrupt for that, it never ends. Your inability to suggest anything productive is tiresome.
As for an answer on every square foot.... A small LNG turbine of say 6MW would require 7 football fields full of solar panels to produce the equivalent power. Thats around 350,000 sq feet of land required just for panels alone. Also, solar power only being generated in daylight hours.!! How much power do you think is needed and where do you suggest all these solar panels go?
On a small archipelago of beautiful islands, who on earth wants every spare square foot of land to be covered in solar panels to provide the primary and secure supply of electricity the islands need? Solar panels are a brilliant technology for small scale domestic generation, to supplement centrally generated mains power, solar is not the answer for a nations base energy needs.
It is letters like the above that frustrate and annoy me most about this country. People are happy to complain and always look for the negatives in everything but never come to the table with answers or suggestions how it can improve. How can it be right to burn thousands of gallons of diesel for power every day? Only burning coal for power could be worse! Things must move on. There is no single magic green bullet for power, but everyone wants it, nor is there a money tree to implement it. Making steps in the right direction can only help, LNG power is one small step.
Small nations can make a difference and can take the lead in showing the rest of the world how to do it. I read a fantastic story how a small area in the North of Great Britain (Teesside) has been selected as the first place in the world to build a gas fired power station that will emit no harmful gasses to the environment by using CCUS technology - zero emissions! Shell, the new LNG Operator, are one of the companies doing this. Why not open the door to these companies, their money and say yes I want power, but I want you to demonstrate to the world how it can be done here with no emissions.
