Madhatter and Sheeprunner12 – sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about. For hundreds of years pit bulls and their predecessor breeds were bred for pit fighting, hence the name. This meant that they had to be powerful, yes, and extremely aggressive to other animals, but at the same time very, very subservient and docile towards humans. Otherwise, in the heat of a fight, a handler would never be able to reach in and pull his prize animal out of the pit without getting attacked. If properly raised – and this is the key – it is extraordinary how docile, friendly and obedient pit bulls are. The reason you hear about them attacking people all the time is that people who have no business owning ANY large, powerful dog tend to get them for protection or as a symbol of the owner's 'toughness'. Sadly, these owners tend to treat the dogs accordingly, trying to instill aggressive behavior so the dog looks and acts more intimidating. Either that, or they get rescues from dog fights that are psychologically damaged and don't know how to rehabilitate properly. Ironically, it is the very friendliness of the breed towards humans that makes this possible. Let an inexperienced dog owner try that nonsense with a Dogo, Cane Corso or Presa Canario and see what happens. Owner will be lunch. But with a pit, you can mistreat / mis-train and everything seems fine, until the day it is not. This is the reason for the explosion of pit bull ownership by inexperienced owners and as a result, increased attacks. But none of this is the dog's fault and to call for all of them to be shot is just idiotic. What is needed is a mandatory training course for any one who owns or one or wants to own one. Over the last 20 years, I have had six pits and have never had the slightest problem. Have them around the children without a second thought. Proper socializing and conditioning is very simple as they are extremely eager to please their masters.
birdie, again, what does that have to do with anything? These fellas read out people's private emails – a move with very serious implications for the future of this country on so many levels – just to deflect attention from videos showing what major party funder Peter Nygard really thinks of the PLP leadership. Your efforts to deflect from that fact are about as transparent as Fitzgerald's.
My question is, what is happening to the PLP's traditional base? Ain all these pastors used to urge their congregation to support the current governing party. Two referendums later, the PLP may have no bigger enemies than these men of God.
Birdie - can you please explain how an objective person is supposed to reach the conclusion that "the blind and the dumb can understand that they have political motives?" I'm sorry, but all I saw was Fitzgerald make a bunch of unverified noise in an obvious effort to save his party's political skin, then read a private email between parties in which they opine on the political affiliation of the commissioner of police. I don't know about you, but I opine about the political persuasion of senior civil servants in my private conversations all the time. What on earth is the issue? As for Pintard's involvement, for goodness sake, his name is mentioned in STB's own evidence. It is not like they even tried to hide it. The PLP spin machine made that into something dirty, but again, on the face of it, what is the problem?
