Something is wrong with the absolute numbers being reported for our country's confirmed cases and resulting deaths. As anticipated, our death rate of 14% is equal to that experienced by Italy. But based on Italy's 197,675 confirmed cases to date as a percentage of its total population of 60.3 million people, the actual number of our confirmed cases for the Bahamas should be about 1,270 with resulting deaths of about 171.
Either our covid-19 statistics are being fudged or there are a lot of Bahamians dying of covid-19 at home because they are terrified of going to a healthcare facility and wrongly believe they may only have a severe case of the flu.
A very telling statistic of any distortive effect(s), deliberate or otherwise, would be public dsiclosure of the average number of recorded deaths that occurred from **all causes** during the first four months of each of the three years 2017, 2018 and 2019, compared to the same four month period of 2020.
Testing was always intended to identify and try prevent mushrooming of infections in hotspots through contact tracing aimed at taking as many actual spreaders and exposed potential spreaders as possible out of the population, i.e. quarantine them. But what might have worked to contain the spread 10+ weeks ago will not work today, mainly because of the additional spread promoted by Minnis's lame-brain orders that created long lines everywhere, e.g. the panic buying at food stores.
Ain't no one gonna be annually injecting me or my family members with any of those cheap Red China made vaccines that are distributed to countries like the Bahamas.
Actually 10 weeks too late! These government clowns are simply going through the motions for consumption by gullible D- educated persons that now make up the majority of our population.
Meanwhile most Bahamians will simply go online and order from their favourite Red China suppliers the less expensive equivalents of all these new locally made products. LMAO
Arrogant and nasty people seldom apologize for their wrong doing; accordingly, employers should not hold their breath for an apology of any kind from Minnis, even an insincere one.
> "Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis has repeatedly articulated that we must be prepared for a very different Bahamas in the aftermath of this crisis. As we rebuild after the pandemic, we must not return to business as usual, but rather learn from our experiences and transform into a more climate resilient society, well-equipped to address the inevitable challenges of climate change."
These words of the writer (Adelle Thomas) ring very hollow. Surely she knows Minnis has been kissing Red China's butt ever since May 2017, even though that country is well known to be one of our planet's most egregious pollutors. She must also know that Minnis and his cronies have been seeking to profiteer in a big way from 'green' initiatives like solar energy ever since Minnis became PM. It's corrupt politicians like Minnis who have stymied the efforts of the well intended protectors of our planet who have every justification for being most concerned about the effects of global polution, shrinking rain forests, etc. on climate change. Anyone remember President Obama and the US$535 million Solyndra scandal?
