For a long time now NIB has been paying out more than it has been taking in. And we all know what that means for NIB's future. NIB will all too soon be the next Bahamasair that cannot operate without massive amounts of onging taxpayer support. Workers will soon be paying not only their employee share of NIB contributions but also taxes to enable NIB to continue meeting its obligations to participants plus pay-out any additional vote-buying "candy" of the kind now being proposed as part of the government's response to the Red China Virus. Not a pretty picture because of decades of waste, fraud and theft attributable successive corrupt governments using it as their own piggy bank.
And of course Minnis as self-appointed ruler by decree of the police state he wishes to create would be the sole determiner of all information and news that can be publicly disseminated by those he rules over. Really?! This certainly would not bode well for civil liberties and freedoms of the citizenry, not to mention the free press like The Tribune.
It seems Minnis is so thin skinned he now wants to take a page out of the playbook Xi Jinping, the leader of Red China's ruthless communist regime. He no doubt has his minister of national security already investiagting many of us under the "spy" legislation that he suddenly took a great liking to notwithstanding his ferocious opposition to it when it was first tabled by the last government.
I assumed Porcupine was referring to ventilators.....most Bahamians are using the terms respirators and ventilators inter-changeably but you're right, they are different. Ventilators are highly sophisticated pieces of equipment that require a properly trained technician to operate properly and safely.
In-branch banking should be closed to everyone but senior citizens bearing a national insurance card, driver's license or passport that evidences their age. It's this age group who are least likely to have internet banking available to them and who are the most vulnerable to catching a life threatening case the China Virus from younger people. Think Minnis, think, think!
