Marsh mallow headed D'Aguilar is playing us for fools. We, the Bahamian people, already know from years of first hand experience with the cruise ship companies who makes out like a bandit and who gets royally screwed, especially in the case of the backroom deals cut with the likes of Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Disney. We all know who usually gets stuck with the mega million dollar harbour and other dredging costs, the environmental pollution (both sea and air), and the loss of Bahamian use of the best and finest beach front and other coastal properties that the Bahamas has to offer. This bumbling idiot D'Aguilar, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, never did have an iota of common sense!
The bigger joke is Barnett who apparently is well known for protecting lawyers from their clients who have suffered harm from gross professional misconduct and negligence. It seems Barnett is usually inclined to bend over backwards to take the side of the lawyer over the lawyer's aggrieved and harmed client.
BHS General Manager Percy Grant is full of poppy cock and has no doubt been motivated by the likes of Kim Aranha to put out this 'save-the-attack-animals' misinformation. Only the last sentence in the above article has some truth to it.
Sands must take us all for fools. If these Bahamians are returning by air travel from COVID-19 hotspots around the world, e.g. Red China, South Korea. Italy, etc., then everyone disembarking the plane with them on arrival in Nassau should have also been quarantined. And someone please remind Sands that telling these returning Bahamians to self-quarantine is not an effective a containment measure. Telling identified potential carriers of COVID-19 to stay at home and avoid contact with others is about as effective as telling a potcake to stop eating KFC chicken bones to avoid choking.
It's becoming increasingly clear that our Minnis-led FNM government has no serious containment plans and is once again doing nothing but blowing a lot of hot air our way.
That guy Geoff Andrews, related to Peter Andrews of Bahamas Waste Management, must have given the government a shiite load of bad advice that now has BPL's board members facing the risk of very material lawsuits against them. And you can be rest assured BPL's insurers and the government will not indemnify the board members because they will be deemed to have failed to exercise prudential business judgement on the basis of readily known and easily available information in the public domain. Frankly put, the legal peril of BPL's directors will not be removed nothwithstanding whatever legal advice and legal opinions they may foolishly choose to rely on.
There was enough info available weeks ago to justify the Bahamas placing travel restrictions on these additional countries. Once again though, our government has been slow to react, and then it's always much too little done, way too late.
There are probably quite a few New Providence residents already infected with COVID-19 but not yet showing symptoms. The only reason we don't know how wide spread the virus is in the Bahamas is because our government failed to early on obtain a sufficient supply of the test kits needed to do so. Now it's almost impossible to compete with the U.S. to get an ample of the test kits. We're gonna have Bahamians dying from COVID-19 incorrectly diagnosed as severe flu cases.
Meanwhile Minnis has been much too busy cutting his back-room deals with foreign investors, mainly the cruise ship companies like Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Disney, to be concerned about protecting Bahamian lives from the impending wide spread outbreak of COVID-19.
> Mr Turnquest continued: "It is important for all Bahamians to understand that in respect to the coronavirus outbreak, the Government places the safety and welfare of all citizens and residents as its very top priority.
Then Turnquest needs to explain why is it for decades now we've had a seriously under resourced and dysfunctional public healthcare system that many believe does more killing than healing? And to think our current PM Minnis served as minister of health under a previous Ingraham-led FNM government and did very little if anything to try breath life into our failed public healthcare system.
