>Royal Caribbean’s interest in having its own private destination in Nassau is thought to have been sparked by the success Atlantis has enjoyed in attracting cruise passengers to its water park on day passes. It now wants to retain all this income, and appears likely to end up competing directly with Bay Street and Bahamian-owned businesses to achieve this.
>Bay Street and downtown Nassau businesses have already reacted with fury to Royal Caribbean’s plans. Leon Griffin, Treasure Bahamas general manager, queried “how will Bay Street businesses survive” if Royal Caribbean’s ambitions are realised. He said: “We depend solely on the cruise passengers and those who are residing in the hotels who come downtown to purchase.
>“But if they have their own spot, like how they have got the different cays, and when you go on the different cays nobody else benefits except themselves [the cruise lines], how could the Government of The Bahamas allow such a thing to happen?”
It's now all too obvious that certain of our most senior elected officials and their favoured cronies are "in bed" with the foreign owned cruise ship companies, especially Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Disney. It's no small wonder that the adjectives now most commonly used by many Bahamians to describe Minnis include: arrogant, nasty, incompetent, corrupt and evil.
Why are Hubert Minnis, Elsworth Johnson, Frankie Campbell and Darren Henfield still protecting the illegal Haitian aliens rather than arranging for them to be rounded up and deported? These four cabinet ministers should have long ago arranged for a system of sustained round ups and deportations to be put in place.
All we ever get from Minnis, Johnson, Campbell and Henfield is lip service with no real action. It's no small wonder these four elected officials are now regarded as illegal Haitian alien sympathizers by many 'true' Bahamians. Meanwhile our limited financial and other resources continue to be consumed by these invaders who undoubtedly aim to eventually make second class citizens of all of us 'true' Bahamians in our own country.

Continent and region you cite are only less vulnerable for the moment because of their less mobile citizenry.....but you can bank on a catchup with the passage of time. Also, it has already been determined that COVID-19 is much more resistant to heat than most strains of the flu virus meaning it is unlikely to be of a seasonal nature.
Most Bahamian voters today are too young to appreciate the role Michael Scott played in the very corrupt Hotel Corporation of The Bahamas when SLOP was PM. Our country was saddled with debt and losses totalling mega millions of dollars from the crooked deals struck back then with sleezy hotel operators and foreign investors.
Michael Scott is a pathological liar. Why doesn't he tell us about the cost to our country of all the additional outrageous concessions government has had to promise Royal Caribbean/The ITM Group to get the Grand Lucayan 'giveaway' deal closed, including the long-term leasing and/or outright free-hold conveyancing of virtually priceless Crown Land (beach front property) at the western-end of Paradise Island?
The corrupt Minnis-led FNM government had very foolishly invested upwards of $150 million of the people's tax dollars in the Grand Lucayan property and will not be getting back anywhere near the $50 million Scott claims will be paid to the government by RC/ITM, especially after considering the scandalous 'giveaway' of the priceless P.I. Crown Land. Scott is nothing but a pathetic tool of Minnis for self-gain.
Forget what's gone by and can be viewed in the rear view mirror.....it's only what's ahead that counts and that forward view is now a most scary one thanks to, among other things, COVID-19.
Yep. True to form our corrupt politicians are blowing nothing but hot air to cover up their incompetence and unpreparedness for the impending wide spread outbreak of COVID-19 on New Providence. They have decided to abandon the Bahamian people and simply bury their own heads in the sand. What's coming is not only going to be devastating for our economy, but also calamitous in terms of the loss of life, especially for the elderly whose health is already compromised.
LMAO at Sands comparing the Bahamas which has done virtually no testing of its population to other countries that have conducted extensive testing of their citizenry and residents. But still no specific details from either Sands or Minnis on our public healthcare system's preparedness for the impending wide spread outbreak on New Providence.
