Absolutely agree, Banker. We have too many Lawyers and Doctors trying to run the country. We need a Lee Kuan Yew (Former Prime Minister of Singapore) type of personality to take charge of this country. Someone successful in business, with a zero tolerance for corruption!!

How do we tolerate the obvious crap going on?? Bank of Bahamas with all of these loans to political cronies would cause the Government to fall anywhere else in the World, except of course, Africa!! Where the heck is our opposition??????

The "quieting titles and land grab trick" can be reprehensible, but probably needs to be looked at on a case by case basis, because in some instances "owners" of land with contested titles had no other way of getting anything at all from "their" land. In some instances, someone else quieting the title, may have been the only way that many "landowners" could ever have realised cash from their property. In other cases, no doubt, quieting of title can be out and out thievery!!

I have no particular knowledge of Mr.Symonette's involvement in this, but know that the quieting of title issue is a cultural tradition handed down from the UBP. Perhaps it is time he offered to sell to Bahamians, at a very cheap price, some of the land he has amassed in this manner, or inherited!!

Apart from the quieting of title issue, and the criticism that Hot Mix is just too damn successful, are there any other challenges to Mr. Symonette' integrity??

Mr. Symonette has made a considerable contribution to politics in this country, and could, if permitted, make an even greater contribution to Bahamian politics in the future. His is a voice of experience, honesty and reason, and he is a good choice to craft a successful alliance from the various opposition factions.

As a major financial contributor to the FNM, he wields considerable power in any discussions concerning political alliances. He is undoubtedly a staunch patriot, and his desire to serve The Bahamas as an important part of the next FNM government would be welcomed by many.

Mr Symonette has considerable business and political experience and in many ways would have been a better and more effective choice as Leader of the FNM than Mr. Minnis.

I hope that the power-mongers in the FNM allow him to play the important and substantial part he deserves to play in the future evolution of this great party.

Greed is a NASTY character! and quite rightly is judged to be one of the seven deadly sins!

Greed warps the judgement, rots the soul, turns kind hearts to stone and, like many other addictive vices, greed is insatiable!....so it is true to say... "They get the notion that they cannot ever have enough"!!

They take and take and take, and get richer and richer, while the poor get poorer and poorer, until one day there is a revolution!!"..............................

Mr. Munroe may have been told by his Webshop clients that all of their financial support leading up to the next election was going to the PLP, and that none was being made available to the DNA.

Perhaps he decided, like many others, that the DNA is a "Spent Force", and that it may become irrelevant by the next election, unless it combines with the FNM and the Independents.

Wideawake says...

The majority of Bahamian voters would only have confidence in a new party provided it starts with a strong presence in the HOA, and uses this presence to mount a vigorous attack on the corrupt PLP Government.

Historically, successful new political parties in The Bahamas have ONLY been formed from a splinter group.

If it is true that FNM house members are dissatisfied with "Hubert Minimus," then break away, especially if you can take the FNM " Money Men" with you, and form the "Free FNM".

Then recruit the independent MPS to swell the ranks in the HAO and then REALLY start to be worthy of the name opposition party!!!

See if any of the PLP HOA members are honest enough to jump ship and swell the ranks to keep the momentum building.

Then absorb the DNA, who will realize by this time that they are a "spent force" and would not stand a chance against the new opposition alliance, and rename the party SCP, The Squeaky Clean Party !!! (or something better!!!)

Within 6 months the result of the next election would be a foregone conclusion, especially if the new party runs on a platform of anti-corruption, transparency, F.I.A., environmental protection, an investor friendly policy, social services, job creation, crime reduction, and self sufficiency in food production.

The only tricky issue is who would be the leader! Guess What? Give democracy a try!! Have a convention and ELECT a leader, each member of the party gets one vote, and then each and everyone support your leader unequivocally!!

Minister Fitzgerald, IF he is interested in answering the allegations being made regarding
this obvious rip-off, simply needs to ANSWER the questions being raised.

1. Was the work put out for bids or simply awarded to a political crony?

2. Was there ever a "Scope of Works" for the project?

3. Is the Minster prepared to table a detailed description of the costings for each part of the
repair project?

4. Why was the cost of the project rounded out to an even $500,000?

5. While we are at it, could the Minster provide a full accounting of all school repairs undertaken this Summer, with detailed descriptions of all work done, who was awarded each contract and exactly how much each project cost?

6. Would the Minister provide a list of all school repairs projects undertaken this Summer that involved a "contractor" and a sub-contractor who actually did the work?

So Mr. Moss wants to be Prime Minister. Nothing wrong with ambition, nothing wrong with articulating ones dream. However, what about his sense of service to country? What about his need to be as useful as possible to Bahamian voters in these difficult political times? Does he really think that pursuing his selfish and egotistical personal political agenda at this time represents his "best use for the Bahamian nation"?

Recent history has taught us how destructive a new party with a self-elected leader can be to the Bahamian political process; the DNA siphoned off sufficient votes to defeat the FNM and allow the PLP to return to power, but didn't win a single seat in the last election !!

Mr Moss must decide whether he wants to be part of the problem or part of the solution. Joining an existing political party that has a good chance of winning the next election
represents his "best use for the Bahamian nation" decision. Trouble is, like many other young Bahamian men with political aspirations, he wants to be The Prime Minister...NOW! and seems to lack the fortitude and patience needed to be a good team player.

Someone please tell Mr. Moss that the prerequisite for the position of Prime Minister of this country is several years of service as a patient, loyal and supportive member of an established political party; the last thing we need as Prime Minister is an egotistical novice, who obviously finds it difficult to be an effective team member.
