How does Chairman Roberts know how today's Supreme Court hearing will play out? What about the appeal process? How can the court appointed liquidators, with no knowledge of the construction industry, or of resort development, possibly complete this enormous and complex project in only 3 months???
Why does Roberts think that the hotel operators and other participants would continue their involvement in the project if Mr. Izmirlian is " pushed out"???
The Bahamas government has been caught red-handed in a conspiracy to defraud Sarkis Izmirlian of his $800 million investment in Baha Ma, and, to use their policy advisors' own words, "push him out"!!!
The Prime Minister, and members of his Cabinet who were complicit in this devious scheme, should hang their heads in shame, and do the honorable thing; RESIGN!! to minimize the damage they have caused to the good name of The Bahamas!
Many Bahamians groaned out loud when they heard that Mr. Christie had resurrected the geriatric Baltron Bethel to serve as a highly paid consultant in his so-called New PLP government. Bethel, who was named in the Commission of Enquiry, is exactly the type of corruption smeared "Old PLP" political operative that should never have been allowed to participate in our government.
It seems poetic justice that it was "Bagman Bethel" who screwed up and inadvertently "let the cat out of the bag!!."... and now the World can see the true motives behind this ill-advised and disgraceful, Involuntary Liquidation plot!!
I do not think that it is true to say that "the PLP has been crippled by criminality during this term". All Bahamian people suffer from the crime wave that continues unabated since the present government took office.
Crime should not be made into a political issue, because most Bahamians realise that the high rate of murders in this country is a symptom of deep sociological issues that will require all parts of Bahamian society to correct.
Government should do more but so should our churches, our schools, our service clubs, our lodges and many other social organizations. Most importantly of all, parents and other family members must make the rearing of children their first priority.
Draconian measures probably won't work because the underlying cause of crime in The Bahamas is our dysfunctional society. The cure for crime is education, full employment, strong spiritual and religious values, organised activities for at risk young men and women, and a caring government that is itself, honest and law abiding ,
Honesty and "telling it like it is", is never a mistake!! Maybe the " silent majority" of PLP House Members will now find the courage to speak out about the rot that is currently being exposed within our government!
It is time we had more "straight talking, tell it as it is" Members of the House of Assembly. Mr. Rollins is definitely one of these, and is playing an indispensable role in Bahamian politics....Out with the Old...in with the New!!
If Minnis has a problem, let's hear about it....NOW!!!!....... He must lay ALL of his cards on the table, reveal ALL of his business dealings since entering politics. Let's hear ALL about it, with ALL of the input that Mr. Roberts, and anyone else in the PLP can contribute!!!!! He must address every hint, every whisper, every murmur of anything suspicious, anything questionable, and anything that he knows is evidence of conflict of interest! Including the rumors of funds that, "went missing" from the Hospital while he was Minister of Health.
Otherwise the hints and whispers will continue, right up to the election, which might be sooner than we think!
The ONLY way that the FNM can win with Minnis as leader, is if the ENTIRE slate of candidates of the FNM is absolutely above reproach regarding honesty and integrity!!
What we voters want, and what our country needs, is a corruption-free alternative to the cronyism/conflict of interest/corruption riddled PLP. If Minnis cannot pass " the smell test" we need to know NOW!!
The ONLY chance the FNM has to win the next election is to be seen as being completely and utterly squeaky clean!!
It is widely accepted that Dr. Minnis' personality is lacking in the charisma needed to created enthusiasm amongst voters. His only hope is to be seen as having "safe hands" as far as the future of The Bahamas is concerned.
Bahamian voters have lost their trust of Bahamian politicians, and might well vote for a party with a CONCH as it's leader, provided they knew that they could absolutely trust the CONCH!!
