The following seems obvious. 1. The PLP will be extremely hard to beat in 2017, even with a united Opposition. They have too much to lose, to lose! Were they to lose, our new Government would quickly organise Commissions of Enquiry to investigate, Baha Mar, bamsi, bob, The Pointe, any and every other " deal" made with the Chinese Government, and all other instances where impropriety has been rumored or suggested. The PLP government know this and so realise that they have too much to lose, to lose! Consequently they will do whatever it takes to win in 2017, no doubt with the financial assistance of the Webshop Industry and the Chinese Government. 2. A unified, united and determined FNM is the only hope The Bahamas has to avoid the looming catastrophe of another PLP win in 2017. 3. Consequently, the FNM should organized a FULL voting convention ASAP, and the present leadership dilemma should be dealt with once and for all with a full and open election of all party leadership positions, with the maximum involvement of FNMs in the voting process. 4. All contenders for leadership positions who are defeated must then pledge their full loyalty and support for the newly elected leader, or else they should resign from the FNM and get out of politics until after the next election. 5. No FNM Leadership contender should let their personal ambitions damage or derail the FNM's chance of winning the next General Election. If they do so, they would become the "Branville McCartney"of the 2017 election, by aiding and facilitating a PLP victory in 2017.
what great news!! Now there are nine voices in the Official Opposition in the HOA!!!! Whom, I wonder will be next to leave the sinking SS PLP???
If the overwhelming sentiment in the country is that this wretched PLP government must go, then each and everyone who agrees with that sentiment must join together to "throw the rascals out".
If I were Mr. Minnis, I would embrace every single person who opposes Mr. Christie's government; I would take em all; eight to eighty, ogly, smelly, stupid and crazy!!!!!!
I would forgive them all of their faults and happily accept them into the FNM fold. Now if they already hold a seat in the HOA; ...then I would jump for joy; they were elected!!! they have constituents!!! they are opposition members in the hoa!!!! Can't do better than that!!! They will add their considerable zeal to the party, and add their voices to the protests!! ..........what great news!!!
This ain't over!!! ....... Waiting for Izzie's next move......he has told the World who he thinks is to blame for the Baha Mar fiasco!!!!!....Bahamas Government and CCA, and perhaps particular persons in our government. Even someone as rich as he is, doesn't walk away from $800million.
Waiting for the lawsuits to start which could tie up the Baha Mar development for years, certainly until after the next General Election. This would ensure the PLP loses, even with the FNM's lackluster leader.
Perhaps Izzie hopes that with legal victories against CCA, and who knows who else, under his belt, he would, with the help of a NEW government, be able to re-claim his project??????
Perhaps, once lawsuits are filed and everything comes to a screeching halt, he can persuade the exim bank to dump CCA and allow him to strike a new deal with the bank????? Hmmmm!!
Another thought; assuming The Bahamas is down graded again, which seems likely, and if the B$ is devalued, then Baha Mar might, once again, become a viable option for purchase by overseas investors with overseas currency!
However, how would they make an operating profit if they have to use de-valued B$ to purchase supplies from the USA???
Obviously they would have to charge US$ equivalent room rates to enable them to purchase US supplies, but of course, Bahamian employees would be paid in B$ and then would struggle to afford higher food prices at the local supermarkets????
It will be interesting to see what options remain for Sarkis assuming that Winder winds up. Can more legal action delay or thwart this action? Can Winders ruling be appealed and re-appealed ad nausea to stretch the final, final decision until after the next election? Would our next government be more "Sarkis-friendly" that PGC's hapless crew???
If you get screwed out of $800 million how do you seek revenge??
This saga is by no means over, but meanwhile the Bahamian people suffer, the corrupt members of government try hard to enjoy their ill-gotten gains as they worry about the result of the next election, which is only 18 months away, and what Commissions of Enquiry they will be called before!!!!
